But, it was short and needs more spook.
Warning: This is not a personal attack on the author, this is merely a critique of his work.
Games - Episode 2 is a continuation from the first entry to the 'Games' series by Damned Husky,
author of Caught and The Search. His style of mod leans heavily on story and voice acting as well
as intricate and varied level design.
- This was without a doubt one of the most terrifying experiences I've had in a SOMA mod so far, the tunnel section had so many great scares and sound design moments that when the enemy popped out I ran away screaming aloud, "F**k that noise!" If a mod can do that to me it's already in my good graces, stellar work on that section, more mods need to do that
- The levels themselves were detailed and had some pretty great lighting in some areas, I especially love the large lab room with the low glass ceiling, very creative work there
- You continue to show your amazing outdoor work, it certainly was beautiful to walk around and admire such a well made forested area
- The voice actor who portrayed the announcer clearly loved playing the role, he certainly was the best performance in the mod
- The other VAs, especially the person portraying the characters through the recordings fell flat compared to the announcer, the player VA was ok but some of her lines were fairly hit or miss
- While the levels were detailed there wasent much to do in them except to walk/run from point A to B, no notes, writings or enviromental story telling were found except for the rather poor audio recordings
- The use of loud noises is fine but there was one section before the tunnel hole that had a loud distorted screaming noise that seemed to only be put there just for a cheap scare with no reason for such a sound to be made
- The sections with the monster while terryfying deflated after you used the default Flesher AI
(which is very easy to cheese) but this wont be a problem to less veterned players so this isnt a big deal
- The mod is very short but because of all the pros you have this is certainly not a big issue at all
