@Noy: Absolutely. Imagine your transition to space as a curve. It's actually easier in first person view, keeping the horizon line just before the point your ship begins to decelerate. This will give you a smooth and efficient curve which you'll end pointed vertically, ascending on only your rear ion thrusters.

You can think of your orbit to atmospheric thransition similarly.

Is this ship able to leave earth planet? I've tried a few times, but only manage to reach elevation 7000 above the surface before falling back down.

im not really happy with it yet, i want the ship to jump after you spawn and want a stalker drone from the curroption mod to attack after a hour but ran into some walls. i might put some more time into it later and try getting around them. but here is the start.

Ah, photoshop... a process indeed then! Was secretly hoping you'd found a way to export the models to some 3D program & grabbed the shots from that.
