Kimberwicke Memory

In March of 2018 we started construction on a new home. My kids, having grown up in the previous one, were understandably sad to see it go. So I set out to preserve our memories in VR using Matterport, Simplygon and Hammer. This Destination is the result.

I am writing an article about what I learned optimizing Matterport scans for VR and for HoloLens. I will link to that article here after it’s published. Please note that this Destination was produced entirely from the Matterport and no additional photogrammetry was used (which is why there are still many holes). Matterport is actually capable of slightly better texture results than what’s shown here, but this Destination has been optimized to run on any hardware that can run SteamVR. The optimization process will be covered in detail by the article.
