Fritz Von Erich

Fritz Von Erich, the patriarch of the Von Erich clan, is a legendary wrestler and innovater of the Iron Claw.

Von Erich trained under Stu Hart in the 50's and started his career tagging with his kayfabe brother Waldo Von Erich. On his own, Fritz was an AWA World Champion and became a major star the NWA. In Japan, he feuded with Antonio Inoki and Shohei Baba, helping the wrestling scene recover after the death of Rikidōzan.

The Von Erich family was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2009 - his sons Kevin, David, Kerry, Mike, and Chris all became professional wrestlers, although all except Kevin died tragically young. Three of Fritz's granchildren have wrestled for TNA.
