Right click Avorion in your steam library, click properties, go to the far right tab called 'betas', open the drop down menu and select the lowest option 'beta - newest changes'.

You need to be in the beta, and put a turret base block on your ship. Select the turret base, go into edit turret mode and load the turret from save.

Ah okay thank you.

You can resize them manually by going into the turret editor and scaling the parts. It takes a little work.
