At long last, we finally have an excellent model of Rodan for SFM and GMod, far better than the old Unleashed model, thanks to Ultimo! The next PS4 model has arrived!

The version of Rodan provided in this addon is his debut incarnation, seen in the 1956 Toho film Rodan, also known as Giant Monster of The Sky Rodan in Japan.

Deep in the mines that had been dug into the foothills of Mt. Aso on the Japanese island of Fukuoka, two remarkable eggs existed, having been there for millions of years. Disturbed by human activity and mutated by radiation, the first of two gigantic pteranodons hatched in the mine while a nearby town was suffering an attack from the equally-ancient Meganulons. This young Rodan consumed all the Meganulon in the mine before maturing and escaping; it was quickly followed by another.

With the two Rodans wreaking havoc on Japan, a plan had to be put in motion to stop the creatures, and an attack was mounted on the crater of Mt. Aso which the duo had decided to make their home. An eruption was triggered, and one of the Rodans was struck by a jet of lava and fell to the ground, slowly dying as the molten rock consumed them. The other Rodan couldn't bear to live without its counterpart, and so it too flew towards the lava flow, opting to die alongside its mate.

Despite the apparent death of both Rodans, this wasn't the last time Japan would be graced by this Kaiju's presence. In 1964, eight years after the events at Mt. Aso, a single Rodan would emerge from the volcano once again, and would go on to encounter (and later become a close ally to) the King of the Monsters, Godzilla!

As always, this model comes in four sizes. There are also bones (selectable with the advanced bone tool) that can be used to manipulate the parts of Rodan's wings without making the flaps clip through each other, which should be handy for stuff like screenshots and artwork. Enjoy!

Giant Monster of the Sky

In the year of 1956, a small mining village in the countryside of japan was being terrorized by a swarm of giant ancient insects, but they were unaware of the true monsters sleeping beneath their feet.

Hatched from an egg that laid dormant in the earth for eons, Rodan and it's mate emerged into the present day after radioactive tests mutated them and swiftly devoured the giant insects. The monstrous insects that had terrorized the town and had killed so many innocents were now nothing more than a snack to this new creature.

After some time and after the two flying terrors destroyed a city, the military successfully drowned them in molten lava after a barrage on their volcanic home. However, one Rodan would survive the encounter and go on to become one of Godzilla's most trusted allies in the later series.

The model itself is based on Rodan's original look from his debut film, the wings can be abit iffy but there are extra bones to help twist them correctly to avoid clipping.
