Antonio Inoki

The legendary Antonio Inoki began wrestling in the 60's for the Japanese Wrestling Association, but is most known for his time with NJPW, which he founded, from the 70's into the 90's.

Some notable accomplishements during his career have been winning the IWGP Heavyweight Championship, fighting Muhammad Ali to a draw in a shoot fight, defeating WWF Champion Bob Backlund (winning the title for an unrecognized reign), being elected to the WWE Hall of Fame, and founding both NJPW and later the Inoki Genome Federation.

Outside of wrestling, Inoki was elected to the House of Councillors for terms starting in 1989 and 2013.
