When Mike Tyson returned to the sport of boxing after serving his time in prison, he took on a series of warmup fights against lesser foes, and it wa quickly seen that while he may have lost a step in terms of the blistering speed and reflexes he had before, he was still a top shelf fighter. No longer under the tutilage of Cus D'Amato or Kevin Rooney, Tyson became more of a slugger, working the body less and going more for big single punches.

He eradicated Frank Bruno en route to a title defense against Evander Holyfield. While the Real Deal was seen as a major underdog, he turned the tables on Tyson and defeated him in eleven rounds. This was merely the prelude, however, to the infamous incident in their rematch, where Tyson bit a piece of Holyfield's ear off in retaliation for incessant headbutting.

Following the second Holyfield fight and his suspension, Tyson went on to fight Francois Botha, cranking his arms but coming away with the win, defeating Andrew Golota, and falling to Lennox Lewis.
