James Ellsworth

Very few expected to see much of James Ellsworth in WWE after he appeared in a jobber role to take on Braun Strowman, but Ellsworth's "any man with two hands has a fighting chance" speech impressed WWe staff enough to bring him back in the fall to be part of the Dean Ambrose vs. AJ Styles WWE Title feud. General Managers from both Raw and Smackdown praised Ellsworth.

Ellsworth believed he had a shot at the WWE title as part of the feud, as he was able to defeat champion Styles with the aid of Ambrose. Ellsworth was often in the way of Ambrose and Styles' plans during the feud.

After the feud, Ellsworth entered into a relationship with Carmella, helping her win the Money in the Bank ladder match by climbing the ladder himself to retreive the briefcase for her. While those results were nullified, Carmella won the rematch to keep her title contract.

Ellsworth was dumped by Carmella and subsequently attacked by multiple women in November 2017 before being released.
