Alberto El Patrón

Coming from a famous Mexican wrestling family that includes his father (Dos Caras) and uncle (Mil Mascaras), Alberto El Patrón was well established in Mexico before coming to the United States to work initially for WWE.

In Mexico, working for AAA and CMLL, El Patrón became well known as Dos Caras Jr. He won the CMLL World Heayweight Championship in 2007 and held the title for a year and a half before leaving for WWE.

El Patrón started his WWE run in FCW, where he grew into a character that would be known as Alberto Del Rio on the main roster. As Del Rio, he did not wear the mask in which fans were accustomed to seeing him wear.

When he debuted on Smackdown in 2010, he targeted fellow Mexican wrestler Rey Mysterio early on. Accompanied by Ricardo Rodriguez as his personal ring announcer, Del Rio, portraying a Mexican aristocrat, traveled to the ring each time in a new luxury car.

In 2011, Del Rio won the Money in the Bank ladder match. He made an attempt to attack new champion CM Punk as he left WWE with the WWE Championship, which failed. Del Rio would succeed at SummerSlam a month later after Kevin Nash laid Punk out. Del Rio would win and lose the title at alternating PPV events until getting injured the night after TLC.

When Del Rio returned, he began pursuing the World Heavyweight Title, which he won for the first time in early 2013. He lost the title the night after WrestleMania when Dolph Ziggler cashed in his Money in the Bank contract, then regained the title from Ziggler a few months later in a brutal match in which Del Rio took advantage of a recent Ziggler head injury.

Del Rio left WWE in 2014 and began wrestling as Alberto El Patron on the independent scene, with stops in ROH and Lucha Underground.

He reappeared in WWE in 2015 aligned with former xenophobic foil Zeb Colter, winning the US Title from John Cena on his first night back. Del Rio would later join the League of Nations stable and eventually depart during a wellness suspension.

Since leaving WWE, El Patrón has worked for multiple organizations, most notably Impact Wrestling. He won the GFW Global Championship in 2017. El Patrón will appear for AAA at Triplemanía XXVI.
