The Siegfried Line, also known in German as the Siegfriedstellung or Westwall, was a line of forts, bunkers and tank defences built by Germany on the Western front. From September 1944 to March 1945, the Siegfried Line was subject to a large scale Allied offensive. It ultimatly failed to stop the allies and came to be, like the rest of the war, an incredible of waste lives and resources
