Commands: All you need is snd_rebuildaudiocache in the console with the full directory URL to the source. Since you already know the basic directory for the main menu music, take that folder setup, and copy it.You only need to do it like this example URL: C:\Programs and Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Left4Dead2\Left 4 Dead 2\addons\workshop. From there, the commands console will detect the 'sound' folder automatically as it is hard-coded into the engine. Once you have that with the product after being uploaded to the workshop, and the addon's number combination copied into the final folder before the process and closing out the game, update the mod file and test it in the game. I'd wait a bit however; it seems the L4D2 Workshop servers are heavily-congested from so many people trying to rush their stuff in, that nobody is able to reach and communicate with the master server to get anything updated or uploaded from the manager. I'm having that same problem too still.

Here's my tips:
Program: Audacity or GoldWave(free version which is permament allows up to 200 tool commands per session)
Listening: Remember to test your sources, and listen to the whole rest of the product a few times to hear for artifacts, encoding errors, anything that'd rape the magnetic speakers of anyone's audio outputs, etc.
