I don't really know much about modding so I would assume it's not as simple as just changing some lines like I did to get it to work the same way it does in your mod, so I'm not sure if this might help.
I need more time with this one.
I did find out why Germany was called German Empire and it is fixed. I will upload the update tonight.
Also, I did find another name which you've probably already noticed yourself, Canada has gone back to being "Dominion of Canada" rather than just Canada. Don't know how I didn't see that since it's quite a long name.
"Red China" was intentional. After research I found out Mao Zedong's cell wasn't organized as "Soviet" for very long (stopped being so in 1937) whereas the moniker "Red China" was not only ubiquitous throughout that era but also earnestly embraced by the communists themselves.
No idea why on earth India and Germany got the vanilla names back, I will fix this.
