MEC 'Arenaria' Corvette (3-Slot)

The 'Arenaria' corvette is an affordable, reliable gunship that can operate for extended periods of time with only a small crew. Four wing-mounted hardpoints allow for excellent weapons coverage. This corvette is perfect as a light anti-fighter, anti-torpedo escort.

The 'Arenaria' uses a unique, minaturized version of the MEC's HEX-E capital ship drive. Extra vents had to be installed to keep the heat under control. Our engineers assure us that occasional sparking from the drive coils is normal and nothing to worry about.

Pros:
-Cheap and easy to build
-Small crew
-Looks kind of like a little wasp airplane - buzz buzz zoom!
-Decent hyperdrive range for a ship so tiny
-Partially armored internals

Cons:
-Tiny and not very durable
-No cargo hold at all
-Very limited torpedo storage

-4x size 1.5 weapons mounts
-1x forward torpedo launcher


By default, the 'Arenaria' comes equipped with custom, miniaturized VT-2 gun turrets. If you'd like to use other MEC turrets with it, check out the MEC Signature Collection!

This little ship is mostly form over function. Other than for sprinting to Xanion tier when you're only able to afford something like this, I'll admit that there isn't much point to it. Small escort ships are not that useful in Avorion without the tools to easily replace them or hyperspace them along with a large flagship. I built it mostly because I really wanted a corvette for the MEC fleet, and maybe further development of Avorion (or mods) will allow for it to be of some use in the future. The ship's class is named for the aerial yellowjacket, Dolichovespula arenaria.
