I saw this house on my way to the liquor store and thought it was pretty nifty.

Asset Stats
Main mesh: 1687 tris, 1080 faces, 1,223 verts
LoD mesh: 94 tris, 54 faces, 86 verts

Textures: 1024 and 128

Props and decoration: A bit more this time - I've used a couple of lights, an entry point at the front door - two squares of pavement texture to make a driveway and two parking spaces in said driveway. Also, a deck chair on the back deck, just because.

About
Loosely based on this house[www.google.ca] on Walthen Drive in Charlottetown. I liked the side entrance and wanted to try to emulate it. I relied a bit more heavily on alphas to do the railings on both the front and side staircases - and I think they turned out pretty good. I've also tried to cut down a bit on modelling window frames. This hits the midpoint in weight for a residential of this size for this footprint. It's no heavier than many of the vanilla residentials, though it is heavier than I'd prefer it to be.

That said, I've put in some extra effort on decals, such as the air conditioner and the railings I've mentioned above. I'm happy with it. I'm working on a new desktop/monitor (Yay!) which has stupidly high resolution, so I can't tell if it matches up with some of the other assets I've done.

As usual, let me know if it's broken in any way. I'll fix what I can in short order. And as usual, if you want to re-use, re-mix or re-do any of this, here[drive.google.com] are the source files.

Next is probably a prop pack in preparation for the Level 2 stuff. I don't think I can get away with modelling everything into the asset without props. Expect air conditioners, yard stuff - maybe a fence or two. I haven't done a 4x4 for Level 1 and that's also top of mind - but I can't do a 32x32-metre building without having a yard, it's just too big. It'll be more like this one - driveway and additional features. Maybe a garage. I haven't tried making trees yet, but it also seems like something I should learn how to do.

This asset, like every other one I've done, was created in Blender - which is now free on Steam for PC and Mac. It's free in any case - but the Steam integration is cool. Seriously, it's not that difficult to use. If I can do it, you can too. Hit me up with any questions you might have about asset creation. I'll try to help with what I can.

Thanks again.

@jesserito6969420 - Thanks man. All of these are homes from Charlottetown P.E.I., mostly taken from the few blocks around where I used to live. We're the Rhode Island of Canada in a few ways. Don't expect more content for CS:1 from me. I started it back in early 2017 and I'm satisfied with what I've done. I've been looking at the asset-making toolset for CS:2. It's not there yet. When it is you might see something new from me.

What state on the East Coast are you from? I'm in Rhode Island and we have so many buildings just like this LOL. I love this & excited to see more content

@komsip. Ha, glad to hear you have those towns in Sweden too - well, in a manner of speaking. These are specifically the types of houses that appear in those types of towns. Only difference here is that the guys drive Ford F-150s or Honda Civics. Few more Presbyterians too.

This could work for a certain type of town in Sweden too, I'm thinking a slightly depressed town with one major industry that if it hasn't moved to China and made the whole town unemployed, employs 90% of all people and the city really got built as late as the 1920-1930s around that industry. The type of town where 21 year old guys drive around in volvo 240s and try to hook up with 14 year old girls and half the population are involved in the pentecostal church.

@MrMiyagi - Thanks! That's all good. I can see where it would be hard to commit to a set of growables in a collection when you need so many other things to build a . . . tableau, for lack of a better word. It's probably more appropriate linked. I'm flattered that anyone takes notice, really. :D

... I haven't checked any of these out in a winter map yet. You know, I really should do that.

To chime in on the convo, I like the very minimal trees and props. And indeed, the vanilla trees are pretty awful. Make that exceedingly awful :D The more resources the game demands, the more I'm having to cut back on extra things like props, trees, vehicles, and total subscriptions in order for it to still perform well.
That segues to my original comment- I couldn't get your collection and DeathKwok's US colonials into the Christmas VIllage save because my computer had reached its limit of all the things I have already stuffed into it, and I had to cut back a lot. Not a reflection on this fine series but on my computer, so I'm going to link your houses as recommended. Very cute in the snow! Keep up the beautiful work! :steamhappy:

These don't really look like East Coast houses, but look good nonetheless. Good job, 220hertz.

@Jensoo - Thanks! There's a couple reasons. When I started making these, I had it in mind that they would be very closely packed together. A lot of lots in my town aren't very big - so I was going for that look.

Many people use Move It to rearrange growables on a street - and extra lawn props can get in the way. Aaand Some people also have very strong feelings about vanilla trees, though they can be modded out. I also try to keep these self-contained (like no other downloads needed) but I'm going to have to figure out a compromise, I guess.

Nice model. :) Is there a reason why you don't place any trees and stuff on your asset?
