André the Giant, "The Eighth Wonder of the World," was a beloved larger-than-life superstar whose personality and size made him a draw anywhere he wrestled.

André debuted for the WWWF in 1973 and remained undefeated in the WWWF/WWF for 15 years, although he had two losses outside of the organization as well as a few countouts and DQs.

At Wrestlemania III, André was defeated by Hulk Hogan in a legendary match after Hogan bodyslammed the massive André.

Prior to WrestleMania IV, André avenged his loss and won the WWF Title from Hogan, but then sold the title to Ted DiBiase. The title was declared vaant as a result, and André battled Hogan to a double-DQ, elminating both men from the tournament. André and DiBiase would feud with Hogan and new WWF Champion Randy Savage through SummerSlam.

Later in his career, André appeared more sporadically, and more often than not in tag matches and backing up other superstars.

Outside of the ring, André appeared in films such as Conan the Destroyer and The Princess Bride, the latter as fan-favorite character Fezzik.
