CORRECTION: Apparently, despite my efforts to make them recruitable right away, they require at least the second level of castle.

UPDATE: The major clans should be able to recruit this unit now in campaigns.
CORRECTION: All clans can and will recruit them.

I made this mod with the intent to be just fun, and make a single unit that is slightly overpowered, intended to be able to be recruited early on (though still expensive) and to stay with you throughout the entire campaign, perhaps as a sort of extra bodyguard for your daimyo?

These ronin are stong with both the bow AND the sword, their melee stats on par with hero units, their range stats somewhere around samurai and warrior monks, and with 300 men in their unit to boot (I made this while using the Total Mayhem mod, and totally forgot my unit sizes were doubled when designing these guys, feel free to modify them to 150 for games without the Total Mayhem mod). They are limited to one at a time.

I love the idea of these units, but I think that they might need a price or upkeep increase, because I cannot begin to share the pain that is known as an army with five of these units. Because even though I was focusing my matchlocks and my archers on them, they refused to die and then if they decide to close to melee range, I basically have to hope to swamp them with my ashigaru and samurai.

@Ripxfel Yeah I highly recommend playing with the Total Carnage mod to double unit sizes, as when I was making these I totally forgot I had that mod installed and became used to the double unit sizes. Ganbatte! You can do it! And hey, I also recommend getting some bribe-skilled metsuke to steal a few more of them for yourself! >:D
