Izhmash AKM

The modernized variant of the legendary AK-47 assault rifle, created in 1959 to replace it's predecessor.
It featured several mechanical improvements, alongside reduced weight from simplified components. A muzzle break was installed at the tip of the barrel to make automatic fire more controllable, while 3 ribs above the receiver visually separare it from the AK-47.
A folding stock version for paratrooper useage was also developed, called the AKMS.
From there it went on to become the most common Kalashnikov design rifle in the world, with the vast majority of "AK-47"s actually being AKMs. It is still regularly used to this day and is easily the most common rifle in the world.
