Greetings friends! here's a little mod ive been meaning to release! Basically it adds a new unit to the empire faction....Greatswords (light), similiar stats but just not as much armour and less pricey...also available sooner in the campaign (same time as the shielded spearmen) well balanced also :) Great for people who want a decent unit early game :)

DOES NOT REPLACE VANILLA GREATSWORDS !


NOT FOR PEOPLE WHO DONT LIKE FLOPPY HATS OR THE ARTSY FARTSY LOOK

Features

- available to all empire factions and southern realms
- Units resemble landsknecht uniforms (big puffy shirts and tight pants aswell as "floppy hats"
- abundance of hats! lots and lots of hats!
- recruitable in empire barracks level 2
- lower upkeep and cost (not as effective as the armoured greatswords but still useful)
- lore friendly

upkeep: 170

What's missing in this game, and no mods addressing it, is the principle underlying the organization of landsknecht/swiss pike/Spanish tercios. These were combined arms formations with arquebusier, swords, and pikes in the same formation. The only way to approximate them in the game now is to co-locate pikes and arquebusier/musketeers units. Cumbersome at best. Any thought to remedying this?

sorry guys just realised i actually didnt make these require a smith....but am going to keep it that way as having them early is fun and makes them more useful for longer :)

Thanks Monty :) I had a few people who didn't want the great swords like that haha so i thought if I did this everybody wins :) I would have loved to use this for my lore friendly mod :) thanks why! Congrats on your latest mod! Very impressive ! BFE I haven't checked but I assume SFO change stats on vanilla entries , if that's the case then this will work with it :) I'm just not into the idea of releasing multiple copies of mods that alter small things sorry someone else is welcome to release a version of they wish :)

I agree with Anubis and KingNikolaj, this should have been the the Greatswords look in your Lore Friendly reskin mod.

In 7th and 8th edtion they got almost no armour(look at second last picture as those are 7th/8th edtion)

I did use it couple of times but just think these ones are alot more accurate.
