1965 Ford Mustang GT

Back in the day this car shocked the nation with a cheap performance car that sold to the masses. It was lighter than the muscle cars of the day, but it had muscle car power with it's 289 V-8 engine. Ford was making a statement that it wanted to be on top of the performance food chain, and it outperformed cars over twice it's price. It wasn't untill 1967 that anycar could directly compete for the price, the Chevrolet Camaro, which was hastily made because General Motors knew if they didn't make a competitior soon, their sales would be massacred by the Mustang.
