To put it bluntly its just bad.

-Poor boss design
-Poor enemy design w/ 90% just being reused enemies
-Level design ranges from mediocre to garbage
-Most of the "new weapons" are either boring or bad
-Story retroactively makes the base game worse
-Hands down the worst progression mechanic I have ever seen in a souls-like
-Significantly overpriced for the lack of polish and reused assets

All that said Leda is a top 5 souls waifu and if you plan on playing convergence, they fix the progression, so buy it for the cheapest you can find it.

Very good, probably will be the best arpg on the market after full release. Some of the most enjoyable gameplay you can actually have from an arpg which is rare considering previous entries in the genre have rather brain dead gameplay with a clear focus on system depth.

Right now campaign loot spawns are kinda iffy and the difficulty (due in part to the lack of good loot) might be more than some can handle, if you are a fan of souls likes though it shouldn't be anything new (other than perspective).

Launch: There are some pretty large discrepancies between class power (warrior is incredibly under-powered in comparison to sorc and ranger) but this is to be expected and will likely be addressed soon.

DoTH: Pretty good quality of life changes such as shrinking act 3 and ascendancy respec, though performance seems to have taken a hit.

TTE: New act is very good, interludes are okay, asynch trade is great. Performance has taken a major hit, especially with the league mechanic.

About time I updated this review.

Let me preface this with the classic line “A game for everybody is a game for nobody”

So who is the game for?

It’s a horde shooter that wants to be a tactical shooter. It’s a horde shooter that doesn’t want you actually shooting hordes and a tactical shooter with giant enemies and large hordes who posess a distinct lack of tactics. It tries for realism but lacks intuitive solutions and is riddled with immersion breaking jank. Its guns are for the most part downright atrocious with reverse power creep that ends with pretty much every “new” gun being a worse copy of something from launch. It wants you to “rely on your stratagems” while doing everything in its power to take them away (on top of the ridiculous baseline cooldowns and distinct lack of firepower). It’s patches straight up lie to you through both omission and blatant misinformation. The new enemies they design are bloated without clear drawbacks (roach is just a better titan and a warstrider is a better and more annoying hulk) and include basic annoying antifun mechanics such as obsessive ragdoll and free damage. They want you to “tailor your loadout” to specific enemy seeds while refusing to tell you what you’re fighting until it’s too late. I could go on, maybe later I will, but that shall suffice for now.

So I ask again, who is this for?

TLDR - This game is confused, lacking a proper identity and design direction.
