Resident Evil 9: Requiem is the next big entry into the cult classic game franchise and is without a doubt the gameplay and graphical peak of the series. When playing as Grace, every scare and moment of fear is genuine and designed so well that I shudder to think of certain moments. Level design is maze-like, but not overly complicated, with puzzles that imo were a bit too easy (I managed to first guess a few of the puzzles in the care center level). Expect a fair bit of backtracking.

When playing as Leon, RE9 becomes a zombie slaying, campy action game like the films that inspired it. Being able to parry practically everything as well as having unique weapon finishers gives our favorite Raccoon City cop a massive John Wick glowup. Also, he's got daddy energy now. Every gameplay moment that I experienced is an amazing 8 - 9/10 experience.

What stops me from giving this game a 10? It's writing of course (and the annoying music that plays at every encounter as Leon, but that's more of a nitpick)

Capcom, as is expected, couldn't write a solid story to save their life.

So you mean to tell me an FBI field agent with experience out in the field is going to act like a stuttering, babbling mess of a human at every inconvenience? And wtf is up with the director of the FBI in this world, sending someone whose clearly a SUSPECT in this whole strange case without any backup or support whatsoever? "Yeah Grace, go into this spooky hotel that was closed off because of this crime. I know you have personal trauma about this place because you saw your mom die in front of you here, but c'mon, ya gotta get spooked!"

And don't get me started on the villains. Zeno is just a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Wesker clone that has less depth than a puddle and Gideon... okay I'll admit, I kinda like how over the top and nasty he is, but there wasn't nearly enough of him.

All in all, if you can stomach Capcom's terrible writing, you're in for a really good time!

Inspired by King's Field and Shadow Tower, Lunacid feels like it could have been one of those cult classic games that you would have stumbled upon playing some random PS1 demo disk from '97.

It's melancholic and creepy, charming and all together strange in its presentation. The choice to emulate that polygonal style of old really lends itself well to creating a nostalgic feeling for something I personally have never experienced before. And the music . Every track sets the tone and mood for whatever level you are currently exploring perfectly.

Engaging with the actual gameplay itself is rather simple, thanks to the core design of the game being rather old school in premise. Simple but effective with some interesting environment interactions with certain spells. The fact that certain weapons have their own "XP" so to say that you have to max out in order to upgrade them, thus keeping that weapon viable for longer, is a really cool system that I wish was in more games.

My only gripe so far is the lack of auto-save or quicksave features (which is more of a skill issue than anything else tbh). There's a reason those things were made standard in every modern game. Even if you wanted to keep the hard save points feature, just having an accessibility option to have a (potentially) limited amount of quick saves would do wonders for certain parts of the game. As much as I enjoy this game and want to play more, I tend to not have time to engage with the game for long periods of time, which tends to mean I'm making very slow progress. Especially with how far apart some of the save crystals are from one another.

A simple quicksave/autosave feature would allow me to pick up where I last left off much easier instead of having to try and retrace my steps from a play session from potentially weeks ago.

Overall, it's a solid purchase and a window into a by-gone era. 8/10

Duel Corp is an action RPG, semi-MMO that wants so badly to style itself as a soulslike, but it shoots itself in the foot for trying to hold itself back by comparing itself to the likes of Dark Souls.

Its more like a Frankenstein's monster of inspirations. The segmented, instance based level design reminds me of Guild Wars 1. The directional combat that resonates a lot with Chivalry or Mordhau. The sandbox that's incredible reminiscent of Bannerlord. And obviously the stamina system and give and take combat design of the Souls series.

There's a lot to love here: the directional combat and defense system, the chaotic and charming NPCs, the overworld as a whole, and the absolutely GORGEOUS world and art design. And of course the obvious homages to FromSoft's juggernaut series. But there's a lot left to do, and I hold hope that the devs will keep chipping away at this. A few small nitpicks I had with the game in my first 10 hours:
- Give more I-frames on the dodge roll. Right now, it feels as if some attacks clip the edges of my hitbox (e.g the random curse the has everyone shoot fireballs when they see eachother)
- The animation speed on blocking could be increased *a pinch*. Its so close to being perfect, but it currently feels just a bit... off. Could be a server response time/internet connection issue however.
- Either give a clear entry/exit point on camps or expand them so I can't get knocked out of the area and miss my chance at completing a contract or camps. There's a lot of timees I've failed contracts cause of this.
- As of writing this review, bows are completely bugged on the enemy side UNLESS they have explosive arrows. If they don't, their shots just kind of push you instead of hurting you.

All in all, this game is truly a diamond in the rough, and a lot of love and care went into the development. I wish Steam gave me the option of a "Yes, but only if you can really afford it" option for reviews. $30CAD is a lot to ask of most people nowadays for an ambitious project in EA. If you can swing it, you'll find something fun here. Otherwise, wait for a sale, or until 1.0 release

I bought this to relive my nostalgia and ended up playing this for 8 straight hours on my single day off this week.

Absolute gem of a game that arguably has more player freedom than its sequel. Highly recommended

Low hours on Steam since I mainly played on the Blizz launcher. Imagine your community being so jaded that they're praising the return of gambling loot boxes to your game lmao

The new perk mode is cool, adds some spice to an otherwise bland formula. That's about all the positives I can say about the game though

Just play Marvel Rivals, at least the devs actually care about the players time, effort, and wallets

If anyone ever complains about not having enough people to run an actual D&D game, show them this. A great story with memorable characters and villains that are a joy to learn about and be around. Combat is almost a one-to-one comparison to how it is in the actual tabletop game, with plenty of freedom to mess about to try things. Wanna pick up one ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ to use as a weapon to beat another ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ with? Provided you have enough strength, you can do that! An honest to god breath of fresh air in a space that's littered with half finished garbage and boring worlds.

PRAISE THE ABSOLUTE!

Truthfully, its the best MOBA on the market for casual players. So many game modes that aren't the typical 5v5 3 lane set up breaths a lotta life into SMITE. Plenty of interesting crossover events and cool god releases have kept me in this games clutches ever since Closed Beta.

Had a friend describe it as "The Fortnite of MOBAs" and I kinda agree. I mean, what other game can you name where you can have Danny Phantom fight Aang from Avatar?

But that's where my current praises end. The devs seem to have a disconnect with what the casual audience want and like. Plenty of god nerfs/buffs that make little sense, lots of items that are useless compared to others that do their job but better, some gods that are so old and outdated that their info on the site is incorrect ((looking at you Vamana)), and don't even get me started on their servers. Did you know that most of the SPL games that were played during the first chunk of Covid not on LAN had to be remade multiple times because they wanted to get a good server to play on? That's ♥♥♥♥, no matter who you are. And you'll be dealing with that even in your casual/ranked/arena/whatever games.

I know plenty of the more hardcore players would rather this game just be Conquest ((Standard 5v5 game mode)). Further alienating the part of the community that just plays this game for the other game modes that are fun is no way to "fix" your game.

If you're looking to play SMITE; do it. Its a great game to play with friends and an interesting and in-depth MOBA that leaves a lot of room for personal growth in gameplay.

But I would not recommend you stay, at least in the current meta. Not until HiRez picks up the slack.

Ever wanted to kill hordes of rats in a L4D style, co-op RPG with three of your buddies?

Despite the fact I bought this on sale, this game is 100% worth the value if you've got three others willing to dive into the endless waves with you!
No friends? No problem! The matchmaking is rather populated, with a good amount of friendly people that are willing to show you the ropes if you're just starting out
