The developers are working diligently on it. Patches are being released regularly, and it seems that many issues are being resolved for a lot of players. However, for me, the game breaks in new ways with every update. With patch 1.1.1, the "GameThread timed out waiting for RenderThread after 120.00 secs" error was introduced, causing the game to crash on EVERY startup. Shortly after, with patch 1.1.2, I finally encountered the "EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION" error that I’ve read about in so many comments. And those are just the ones that crash the game for me and that I can track down in the logs...
I’m sure the game will reach a playable state someday, but right now, it isn’t — at least for me. It’s incredibly frustrating to see the game on sale just one month after release, in such a horrific technical state, especially after pre-ordering it for over a hundred Euros and still being unable to play it... Therefore, I cannot recommend it right now :(

Update after Patch 1.1.3: GameThread timeout exception is back. Workaround that works for me:
1. Delete the temporary files folder content.
2. Run disk cleanup with directx-shadercache ticked.
