A true story from high school: when I was in high school, I was walking between classes. There was a section of the school where you walk through an open-roofed area, much like a little garden. As I was walking on the stone paths, I stopped for a moment, a fraction of a second, to tie my shoe. As I got up from doing so, bird poop landed directly in front of me. I think about this moment every now and again. Tying my shoe saved me from getting pooped on. I wonder... was this a random twist of fate? Was this karmic justice? Was this akin to dodging a sniper on the grassy knoll? What if I never bent over to tie my shoe? What if I ignored my laces? An alternate universe? Would I still be who I am today? This is [ BIRD CYCLE ], the eternal passage of time--like cosmic arrows through the wind the birds fly in flocks to poop and poop again.
