This is like Touhou except its newbie friendly and you can upgrade / change your bullets / special attacks. Also the story makes more sense.

Also it has lewd stuff.
Which was first pixel censored then censored with stickers of retarded bunnies.

Why the ridiculous censorship??? And why it was removed from steam?

Great game. BUT.

Play this. without any mods. to understand fully what is wrong with game publishers and a gaming community as a whole. Just to educate yourself. And to learn just how great an RPG can be on what seems like dated 3D graphics.

This game was released in a rush and was left in buggy state. because at that time the publisher wanted it out faster. Because money. And the developers did their best to wrap the game up and get ready for release. Except it wasnt ready.

(As example - I have seen some walking animations to be missing. And some of the abilities didnt work properly for me. But that was my experience.
You need mods and a holy water sprayed all over your PC to make it at least slightly better. But then again - those mods sometimes add things which break the game's balance a bit. like fire axe lying somewhere that was added - thats a buff for you which wasnt supposed to be in the game, but whatever. So pick your poison. )

15 years later or so this game gained more and more popularity. Because plenty of other RPGs sucked. And this game was still great. Even with all the bugs and dated graphics. Think: any NPC in this game has more character and writing in it than any person in elder scroll oblivion / skyrim. All of them are just walking toasters there. Nothing more.
And NOW that the game gained more popularity and more positive reviews the price was raised to 20 euros. F*** you!!!!!


Now Steam saying I have 3 days left (as windows 7 is being dropped) to finish all my backlog - this game included. As Steam Client will no longer run.
Do I really need to buy a brand new PC and new windows OS to play a game from 20 years ago? No.
Will the game play less buggy? Absolutely not. Actually it may add even more lags. Which will be left for the community to fix. Again. As it always was.
Why this happened? Because the steam uses chrome engine. Why? Because it was cheaper than writing their own engine from scratch. + steam has DRM in it so now I'm screwed (as the games wont run without the steam client).

Somehow I feel like 20 years later still being screwed over. Happy new year to you too Gaben.

The game is ... fine-ish. Except:

- The built-in "manual" opens in your default web browser thus resuming my previous session and opens tons of tabs. Was it really that difficult to create an in-game textbook guide like Spelunky does? You pick up an item and it gets added to your "discovered" items which you can read more information on at any time. Thats how a game is meant to be played. Not googling old and incomplete guides online!
And the online manual in this game is incomplete too.

- Lots of guessing. What item does what. How to complete the game. Etc.

- Lots of grind. You have to blindly navigate the maze. - Yes, there are "clues" that the game gives - those crystals give you 3 numbers like 5 3 2 - meaning there is something you need on 2 level, 5 column, 3rd row - but its still a maze and you could have picked up that item already - the game wont remember if that hint is still valid. + its a maze, so you have to navigate in zig-zag paths, even teleporting between the levels.

- The combat could be improved perhaps. There are lots of stupid death when you enter the room and the enemy stands near the entrance - thus hitting you.

- Also majority of the combat is just not fun. After playing for a total of 8 hours with character that I liked I'm just no longer interested in this game.


+ Nice background music
+ different characters to choose from.


The game is kinda.. OK. But not my cup of tea.
And there is little point to play it when you already have something else in the backlog.

Game supports Xbox 360 controller only.

Game has local 4 player race but what are the chances that all 4 players will have Xbox gamepad?

How easy would be to code the DirectInput controller support (non-Xbox type)?? Thats a task that an amateur programmer could do.

Imagine a 15 euro game being out for almost 10 years and not having a proper gamepad support which a hobby programmer could code in an afternoon or two.

overly simplistic gameplay which makes the game pointless and boring to play.

samurai gunn does it better. its simple yet better gameplay.
or go for towerfall for simple gameplay with TONS of growth.
or duck game.
or boomerang fu.

And if you will look at all the positive reviews praising the game then you will see that they all have about 1 hour max played.. which is a bit of a joke. You know.. if the game is great then why no one plays it?


I love local couch games, but this game has its worth equivalent to the steam cards that it gives.

This is THE BEST local (couch multiplayer) "4 players" multiplayer game.

+ easy to learn, difficult to master.
+ VERY addictive and competitive.
+ gamepads from other brands can also be configured.

FYI: there is also 8-player official "standalone versus" mod on itch.io for something like 5 bucks - the value is insane if you only need to play each versus another.

This release "towerFall Ascension" for example - has other modes, like playing with a mate versus bots in "waves".
And typical "4 player versus" mode, of course.

Great local "4 players" multiplayer fun.

+ this game is "newbie friendly". And can be easily picked by very casual gamers.
+ still has some gameplay depth (bonus pick-ups) to help not become repetitive too fast.

One of the best local multiplayer games on steam and overall.

Ignore my playtime - I played this for a decade from CD disk.

This and Worms World Party - are the only 2 worms games that you will ever need.
The other games that followed after WWP are just remakes for filthy casuals, with hats and whatnot added.

Just get this and/or Worms World Party and pretend that other versions don't exist.

Single player: its way too repetitive. And with each "loop" the AI becomes ridiculous - at some point they just snipe you as soon as you enter their field, with delay of like 0ms. But do you really want to play the game that long? You will ask why I did?
To check how the game changes with each loop. Well it doesn't. Besides ridiculous artificial difficulty increase.
