Finished the game. Enjoyed it.
It took me ~135 hours to complete the game - with me talking to every NPC and completing almost each main/side quests (I missed maybe 3-5 of them). I often even reloaded and replayed many parts just to see a different outcome/dialog. Brewing potions like no tomorrow. Reading each book on the shelf, etc. You get the point.

+ it's just a good 3D RPG game:
* The story is great. The quests are well thought out. they have some details, and characters interact with each other thru the story.
* You can feel character behind characters (IMHO if NPCs in skyrim feel like talking wikipedias to you, you will clearly like Witcher series world more)
* You can import your save over to a Witcher 2. Nice!

- the facial animations in cutscenes are poorly done. Im guessing they had some technical limitations with this. But still, it's well served in-game as you will not get annoyed by it (I didn't at least.)
- the combat system many/some find somewhat annoying. -> Supposedly this was improved in Witcher 2. Cant comment on this yet.
- non existent sex scenes - their execution is very symbolic in the game: The screen quickly fades out and you get a erotic card with that girl on it. Yay!
- some lack of the video settings. I would like to turn on V-sync - why no option for it?
- some bugs here and there. And I don't mean Kikimore Workers. At some points you will see some annoying things: white glowing on everyones faces / maybe stuttering cutsenes / ... many people experience different glitches - just go over to discussion section and see for yourself. Results vary.
- some "lazyness" on devs side:
* some reused models - yes, there will allways be a limited set of models in a game, but as you start a game there will be some memoriable characters, but later as you progress you will encounter common characters that look exactly like them. Yes, NPCs models are smartly placed all over the world, but it's still there. You WILL have to turn on floating text "a name" which shows names of each NPC / or other objects. (You can see them temporarily by holding ALT or enable permamently in the settings). So that you can actually see which NPC is Barbara or whatever and which one is just a common passerby.
* minor inventory annoyances/limitations: like not being able to put stuff inside a chest/closet/box: you just read a book and want to put it from your inventory back to a shelf? - well you can't - you have to just drop it on the ground and walk away like a d0uchebag.

side notes:
when you are very drunk:
it's faster to walk sideways.

about game's CD-key:
you can redeem a free copy of witcher 1 on gog.com:
* Right click on The witcher 1 in your steam, and click "View CD-Key...". Copy it.
* Log in to your gog.com account and go to link
https://www.gog.com/witcher/backup
and paste your key there.
* done. You redeemed your free, no DRM witcher 1 copy on gog.
My point is: that's the only purpose of the CD-key. You do NOT need to activate the game with a CD-key as the steam will keep saying to you when you first start a game.

There are additional quest-games (from the main menu -> "New game" ) but you might want to watch them on youtube. As IMHO they are way too grindy, and gameplay wise are not worth it.
