I went into this not knowing anything about Octopath Traveler as a series, and am not to fond of Square Enix as a publisher. But after I started to sick my teeth into this game I fell in love.

The amount of love, passion and polish put into Octopath Traveler 2 is astounding.
Everything from gameplay, world building, stories, characters, voice acting to music. Nothing falls short of a 10/10.

After an 80+ hour play-through I sat there sad that it came to an end, for I only craved more.

If you have the slightest interest in JRPGS, exceptional writing, interesting characters or inspiring music, try Octopath Traveler 2.

I hate having to write this, but I feel as if it will help give the devs some nessacracy pointers going forward.

This is a tale of Just Cause 4.

Over the many months from its annoucment we have gotten a non stop flow of trailers, and showcases for the game. All of which had me and many others hyped, "After Just Cause 2 and 3 were so good, so beautiful and fun. How could they possiable fail! The only way to go it up right?" Boy was I wrong.

-Lets start off with false advertisment.
As I said we had many trailers and showcases were hyping up an amazing story, and a new villain, one Rico would have a tough time taking down, and one that was as dangerous as Rico.

Thats not what we got, Gabriela Morales might be a badass elite warrior, I wouldn't know. She shows up twice in the entire game, having a combined line count of what, 9 or 10 lines of dialogue. All of which are in cutscenes, we never hear or see her outside of cutscenes, destroy one of her major bases? Nothing. Slaughter hundreds of people working for her? Nothing. Take control of a majority of the island? Nothing.
Gabriela even has lines in the trailers, that never show up in-game, non of this talk about how Rico and her are the same.

-Next in false advertising is the downgrade, not only from trailers but JC3 as well.
Textures, folliage and water have all seen massive downgrade from the trailers and pre-release footage.
not to mention THE WATER, WHAT HAPPENED TO THOSE BEAUTIFUL WAVES IN JC3!?
I understand that preformance was a issue in the previous game but stripping so much from the previous game was only ever going to go over poorly with the fans.

-Aside from false advertisment. A core aspect of Just Cause has been dumbed down, that being the destruction.
There are far less destructable objects than JC3, no billboards, big concrete bridges or concrete barriers used in military outposts.
Not that you'd even want to bother destroying anything, as you get nothing out of it.

-The liberation system has been taken out, so all destroyed objects respawn not long after they are destroyed and you get nothing but progress towards the squad system. You cant capture bases, you just do 1 of 4 repetative and dull missions and then take over that region, you dont even need to see anything other then the main base.
This takes away from the world and bases, why explore or see all the world has to offer if there is no reason to stick around bases or towns.

-Enemy Ai is dull, and will spawn endlessly behind you, at lest in JC3 they arrived in cars from outside the base.

-Weather is extremly restricted, Tornados follow 1 or 2 preset paths, Rainstorms and Blizzards only spawn over their main base, no where else. And I couldnt be bothered to play enough to see if Sandstorms worked the same way.

-Next, Wtf is with the missions, you have this crazy set of tools, weapons and vehicles, paired with the weather systems. And all you could come up with is hack terminals on a set timer, drop vehicles into water, defends an object for 5 minutes and then piss easy on rail (literally) shooter sections.

-Side challanges are even worse, dumbed down from JC3 into simple "Fly through these 3 piss easy rings in 8 seconds"
Much of the advertisement was focused on being creative, shame the devs couldnt be the same way.

-Vehicle handling is still trash.

This review is falling apart so il cut it now.

There is so many things that are wrong with this game.
I still can't wrap my head around how much of step back this is from the previous games.
This is coming from a long time JC fan, I hoped that JC4 would be a diamond in this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that has been triple AAA gaming recently.
I had faith that they would provide a worth while product, Sadly I was wrong.
Il be trying to request a refund, this product is not worth spending money on, just go back and play JC3.

TLDR - Major step back from JC3, false advertising and more. Do not buy.

From my start in November of 2016, this game has been nothing but a pleasure to play, from the gameplay,music,story and community. All these elements come together to put a smile on my face.

I would highly recommend this game to anyone who enjoys MMOs, or is looking to start playing one.
