I've bought and tried nearly every "craft, fight, survive, thrive" type game of this type, and I've quit nearly every one in time. Rust, 7 days to die, you name it, it's in my library, and they all remain mostly untouched. I normally don't leave reviews for games either, just not in my nature to cowtow to companies or to rag on those who couldn't quite meet my expectations. But I have to say, despite all the other titles gathering dust in the back of my proverbial storage room, I still play ARK. I still have fun managing to take down rexes. I still get REALLY MAD when a raptor I didn't see goes to attack me and hits the mammoth I was trying to tame. I still love the game. And while there are things I would improve (ARK staff please god fix the raptors they can just immediately smack you off your mount its BS PLEASE GOD) it's withstood the years since its release very well. I would hesitate to call it the definitive survival crafting game, but it's earned its stripes, and I believe I'll be playing for years more.
