First of all, I absolutely love this game, it's one of my all time favorites, WITH some caveats (more details below).

If you never played the first Hollow Knight, definitely play that one before you play this one. The first one is an absolute masterpiece, 10/10.

Silksong is definitely also amazing, for many of the same reasons as the original, but it also has one pretty big downside: the game loves wasting your time as a negative consequence for failure. For example, there are plenty of bosses/encounters in this game on which if you spend an hour of time to learn and practice the fight, you will only be in the fight for 30 minutes, and the other 30 minutes will be wasted on unnecessarily long runbacks.

On top of wasting your time with runbacks, this game also introduces a lot of build variety (through "tools"), which are effectively useless most of the game, unless you commit to wasting even more time constantly farming a currency to refill the tools. If you want to learn a fight with tools, then you are forced to take farming breaks between attempts, and it sucks. As a result, I have basically ended up ignoring tools almost completely.

If the rest of the game wasn't so damn good, I would have probably abandoned it due to this wasting-time-as-a-punishment philosophy, but I ended up putting up with it, and I am glad I did.

Melee combat is janky, but other than that it's awesome. The Dune flavor is great, the story is interesting, the building is fun.
I like the feeling of progression and discovering the tech tree.

Oh yeah, multiplayer is the cherry on top.

Sure there are problems (terrible UI/UX, performance issues, etc) but underneath all that is an awesome game. Hunting monsters is great.

Excellent game, combat feels deep and getting better at it feels rewarding, lots of variety in encounters and weapons, lots of stuff to discover.

Turn off TAA in settings unless you want to play "I lost my glasses simulator", no idea why that blurry mess was on by default for me.

Actually surprisingly well designed game. At its core, it's a basic looter shooter - if you enjoy setting goals and grinding for them, then this game might be for you.

Combat is a bit reminiscent of Mass Effect. Not quite as satisfying as something like Destiny 2, but still fun.

Fast paced multiplayer FPS gameplay with very little downtime. Every round is exciting and the game is super fun.
