Yakuza Kiwami 3 is set to release on February 12. It is the latest in the line of Kiwami remakes for the Yakuza series. Unfortunately for those looking for more of this style of game, Masayoshi Yokoyama revealed during a recent livestream that the forthcoming game will be the series’ final installment, making way for new games with a different title. The spin-off will not be comparable to the Like A Dragon series either.

“I don’t think it will continue as the ‘Kiwami’ series anymore. I think a different series will begin, and not something like ‘Like A Dragon 9, ‘ but rather a new series on a different line, with a different meaning. This might be something you’ll understand once you play Yakuza Kiwami 3."

Subreddit r/YakuzaGames had under 50k members, when I joined. Now it has 339k members.
We all cried and laughed with our favorite character. It was and incredible experience. Over the years, I've spent at least 1000 hours (but realistically more than that) across 13 games.

I didn't like "A Man Who Erased His Name". One cutscene at the end doesnt justify all other ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Especially the worst - Daidoji Faction. I'm sure Yokoyama has written all this arc. If you played Infinite Wealth too, you've noticed a lot of inconsistencies between two games. That's due to another stupid decision by almighty Yokoyama. Infinite Wealth story was created before Gaiden, they just wanted to make a quick buck with a game size 1/3 of original titles and 50$ price tag.
Daidoji ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ is the worst that happened to the story of Yakuza games. Masayoshi Yokoyama is the worst person for the position of the Head of Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio.
Another Red Flag was TV series they released. After several reviews and comments from fellow Redditors, it was clear the only thing series had in common with games are character names. Personalities and plot were entirely different, if not opposite.

In freshly released Kiwami 3 they removed 70+ substories and changed story. Guess what? ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Yokoyama double down on Daidoji plot. In this very game.

I'm very sorry for all the talents, voice and motion actors who will still participate in this.

I'm so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sorry for all cast from Ichiban's games. You deserved better. Any sequel to Ichi story is basically cancelled at this point.

Ichiban deserved continuation of his saga. Kiryu deserved a proper farewell long time ago. But because of a single greedy old fart we're not gonna see any of that.

I'm very sorry for Nagoshi-san. I wish he could save the franchise but that's not gonna happen.
