I keep coming back finding new content, a new tournament, they keep polishing this absolute gem. Works perfectly on Steam Deck!

I have loved Quake for a long time and really missed Quake 3's fast-paced multiplayer. When playing Quake Champions for the first time during the start of the early access it gave me a nostalgic rush in a new . The fact you can feel you're rusty proved to me that it is still the skill based at heart from the 90's. After some warming up you really start fragging like it's 1999.

Yes there are lootboxes and an in-game store but they are far from gamebreaking, what you can get from lootboxes is cosmetic, the store let's you buy lootboxes, cosmetics, champions or XP boosters. You level up while playing but your level is nothing more than an indication of the time you spent playing the game. Unless you buy the champions pack you need to earn favor to unlock a champion, this happens naturally while playing and is in no way a grind. The biggest factor by a mile is your skill, even more so since the last update reduced the effectiveness of all champions abilities.

One of the most positive points for me personally is that you can just fire up the game, have a few matches of fragging whenever you can find some time to play. I don't have much time for gaming and in a lot of games that means falling behind on those who do, getting owned by level / equipment differences instead of skill.

Oh and I like the list of champions including characters from different games of ID Software :)
