In 1985, CBC Radio in Winnipeg would sign-off their transmitters during the overnight hours. Before they closed down for the night, the announcer would read a detailed weather forecast for cities and towns throughout Manitoba. William Ackerman's "Ventana" frequently played in the background. The cadence of the announcer, paired with this song, mixed with the skywave of their 990 kHz signal was a mystical experience for me as I would drive through dark, rural roads in southern Illinois.
