Needs tweaking when it comes to crafting items. Making almost anything is instantaneous but for some reason smelting is timed. It's inconsistent.
Drowners respawn too quickly inside caves.
Making your character sit facing a table is almost impossible with how the sitting mechanic is currently. You sit facing the direction you were standing before and you never stand on a table. It would look awkward in co-op if everyone was sitting facing sideways a table. Setting the chair too far from the table is equally awkward.
Wind direction is not present in the game which means your ship can sail equally fast in any direction.
Fighting aboard an enemy ship is very clunky. The way movement is in combat combined with the cramped and crowded area does not feel good to play.

This game has so much potential as it is already and it's just a demo. I wish this game good luck because it deserves both improvements and attention.
The demo is quite lengthy too. Very enjoyable experience for something you can try for free.

Zojja is still bald but at least this opens up more weapon options for your character classes for more fun and non-meta builds.

There's clunkiness in combat which is half of the game. The worst that this game has done is controls for the PC. It's highly recommended to play it with a controller. Even navigating through the menu with kb+m is atrociously bad.
Still overall good if you can get past the control scheme problem. The farming side of the game feeds into your combat performance and your combat performance feeds back into the farming side of the game.

But I bought it for Sakuna.

Basically Half-Life if it was a survival crafting game and you're one of the many scientists trapped.
Needs more polish both in game mechanics and technical aspects (UI, performance, graphical settings, etc.)
Still quite good even at this stage of development.

What stands out for me is the level design. It reminds me of Lordran where you find paths that loop back to places you've already explored. It enforces the idea that facility itself is also a character rather than just a level.
It also allows for dedicated servers which is nice.

Despite being a game about scientists, it doesn't really go hard in being a numbers game. Everything is easy to understand and manage. I do wish there were more nerdy things in the game like being able to type 80085 in calculators or finding media players and CDs to listen to.

Finished base content.
Don't mind the plot. You don't play this for the plot.
Recommended as an action game.
Not recommended as a soulslike.

Since guns are the main focus of this game, boss design has to revolve around that. Most bosses therefore have trash mobs spawning left and right so they can drop ammo. If you take away trash mobs, boss design is exposed as weak and too easy. The thing is there's already ammo boxes that you can consume to replenish ammo and consuming that would be enough to add to the hectic nature of boss battles without throwing trash mobs.
I heard that this was a common complaint among the playerbase and the sequel is said to address this so that's good.

World design is below average. It feels like a sequence of linear Skyrim dungeons linked by loading screens than a world once lived in and decayed. I can compliment the details and art direction but the map layout of the randomly generated corridors doesn't make the game's world feel engaging or concrete, another trait Souls games have excelled at.

Item progression relies on your playstyle. You don't drop a weapon/armor because a better one dropped. It's all about upgrading and what feels good to the player. Some players might prefer semi-automatic fire, some may prefer fully automatic, etc. and trying out weapon mods that make the weapon feel better is up to you but you have to unlock those via boss fights.
Armor sets have their own bonuses and you can synergize that with your gun build.

Amazing art direction.
Great gunplay. Guns feel and sound impactful. Really. The animation of staggering enemies further enforce that.

Co-op is fun and great especially with friends but there are problems:
1. You don't see the latency so joining random hosts is a dice roll
2. Boss fights might be considered spoilers because the host has progressed farther than you but you don't really play this game for the plot...
3. Friendly fire can be used to grief players
4. Cutscenes only play for one player so while that's happening the rest can use that time to heal each other. It's funny.

Way shorter loading times than ESO while offering an equally interesting theme park mmo experience.
Try it if you want something to fill your empty time. The f2p version shows enough content for players to decide if it's worth buying or not.
