Auch wenn der Name es suggeriert, "don't just flat it out". Es ist kein Arcade-Racer, sondern ein Spiel, bei dem der Einsatz von Gas, Bremse, Nitro und Gegner rammen wohl überlegt sein muss. Stupide Vollgasfahrten werden mit einem tangentialen Abflug in der nächsten Kurve bestraft. Kurven müssen angebremst und danach am besten mit Nitro wieder verlassen werden. Oftmals hilft Nitro auch, das KFZ durch die Kurve zu drücken, obwohl man eigentlich noch zu schnell ist.

Controller werden unterstützt, allerdings muss man die Steuerung vorher selbst einstellen. Die Standardbelegung ist eine Katastrophe. Ein analoges Gasgeben über den Controller ist möglich, aber nicht empfehlenswert. Es lässt sich einfacher fahren, wenn man über eine normale Taste beschleunigt und abbremst.
