By far my top Final Fantasy game to date. It's different from what most might be used to with it's open world. This is not a game to be rushed as it's really a tale of four friends caught against the darkness and saving the world.

So take your time, do EVERYTHING. There is so much dialog between them that every little quest fills in more and more. You'll have a hard time not loving them by the end.
