The playable characters are all terrible and I actively tried to get them to die every chance I got. It's all DEI writing and the dialog is cringe. You play as a jeet, a nog, and a oven dodger. If that sounds like I good time to you, go ahead and pick this steaming pile up.

This is an easy reccomendation for those that want an MtG like experience and don't like or can't play the current digital iterations.

Background: I'm an old school MtG player for more than 15 years and the current online renditions of MtG are just not up to par for me as a videogamer for even longer than I've been a Magic player. Arena is pretty close to great, but it is standard only, so, being a old school MtG player, I cannot play with some of my old favorite cards. I left Hearthstone, which I played for 3 years, for this game.

Reasons: 1: Depth. This mechanics are similar to MtG in this game. Defender decides blocks, and you can interact during your opponent's turn with certain cards, unlike some other card games.
2: Economy. Thoughout my short time with the game, I never felt the game was being stingy with resources like other games. I was FtP for my first couple of months and managed to craft a handful of legendaries in that time and make it to diamond. I was impressed that I was able to achieve a rank like that as a F2P player, which is nearly unheard of in other games, that I bought some gems so I could craft more legendaries for fun decks that I wanted to try out, even if they are not competitive.
3: Design: The lore and mechanics really fit well together, and while it is not a super important aspect of a card game, it does help you to stay immersed. The setting is a little bit dark with cyber agumented humans and betrayal, but a little but whimisical with goofy tribes like yeti. A little something for everyone, like MtG.

Conclusion: Basically the ideal digital version of what a MtG game should be if you are not totally commited to the MtG lore. As a long time player of MtG that knew the lore, but not devoted to it, this is nearly a perfect fit, and anyone in the same boat as me would feel the same, I think.
