Sadly, Victoria 3 failed on many levels, only new players whom never played Victoria 2 and simply enjoys Candy Crush click-repeat grade of gaming would find this game delightful.

The 1st stage "performance" : its terrible, you can't even make it past 1880, the game becomes very laggy, the devs promised to fix it in 1.2 and 1.2 appeared to make the game even slower, they only fixed lagging but didn't fix the slow performance. It is like covering a piece of dirt instead of cleaning it.

The 2nd stage "mechanics" : war mechanics needless to say are too too simple for a person with a normal functioning brain. Trade mechanics are horrible too, more production lower prices, less production higher prices, simply that, which is a very very basic mechanic of trade which has much more complex aspects such as distance costs, cultural relations, political relations, importance of goods, alternatives etc... Paradox marketed Victoria as an economic simulator not a war simulator but failed in achieving both.

The 3rd stage "AI" : Paradox marketed its AI in V3 as the most advanced AI in the entirety of all of its games group, however, the AI is as smart as a 5 years kid, the countries' AI has no strategic perspective, no goals, no long-term or short-term plan, they are just there to make the player busy nothing more than that. I see countries accepting my alliance for obligation and ending the alliance one week after, all that while maintaining the obligation they got. I see countries entering a petty war against super super powers over petty objectives. I see Italy and Prussia just hanging there not bothering about unifying the nation, I see AI join wars against me along with their rivals. I could go for pages writing about how terrible the AI is.

The 4th stage "Naval supremacy" : there are no count on individual ships, you just upgrade them via one click, you can't manage them more deeply, naval invasions from england to prussia takes the same time as from england to china, there is no naval attrition, no distance depth, no naval doctrine or culture. Any country in the game can become a super naval power by simply getting technology and building dockyards.

The 5th stage "Historical accuracies": game has terrible historical accuracy, from Japan's meji restoration, china's opium wars, german unifaction.

The 5th stage "colonization" : its very very very simple, research malaria prevention and congratz, the entirety of africa is yours ! simple as that, you don't need enough population to maintain the control of coloniez, you don't need an army, you only need technology, yepp thats right.

The 6th stage "warscore counter" : countries can capitulate for stupid reasons, you can enforce horribe horrible treaties on them just because you occupied some port in their homeland. I could liberate ukraine out of russia just for capturing ingria "their capital" for few months, even if you have the ability to retake the states that you lost in a war, the warscore counter is much faster than the battle counter, which a single battle can take more than 2 or 3 months which is enough time to capitulate you.

I could really go for pages and pages writing about how horrible this game is, Paradox devs team knew it, the fan base knew it, everyone was expecting this level of low standards in V3 yet we are still disappointed about how it really appeared to be even lower than what we expected.

Paradox delivered this game for 50$, which is a finished product price, even tho the game was far far from being production-level ready. If I would call this something I would call it fake advertisement, now they are offering us "Free Patches" as we are expected to have them with a very grateful face that they fixed the product they sold us at a very high price compared to other games in the same business. I tried, i really tried to find excuses for Paradox and V3 horrible finish, but nothing can make up for the weaknesses in this game structure and design, along with Paradox marginalizing of V2 fan base during the development process. It felt like they traded us V2 fans for teenagers whom just wants to play war of clans but on PC.

This is the worst most unrealistic game to portray WW2 ever, here a list of inaccuracies in this game:

1- Soft-hard attack concept: to assume that a division with support AT can stop a division of a mixed tanks/ infantry is just dumb, one of the reasons germany lost ww2 was bcuz of their numerical disadvantage regarding the tanks they have, tanks were created at first place to break through entrenched forces, to assume an entrenched division can actually cause massive losses to tanks is just stupid

2- Attacking is not profitable at all: Defense is tooo OP, the attacker losses can be really huge regarding equipments and manpower, WW2 was all about who attack and who attack even more. You can literally drain a full equipped country with 12M manpower pool just by defending without even losing 500k soldier

3- AI is retarded, The Soviet Union just attack like crazy wild dog until it has no equipments or manpower

4- Equipments are too expensive to produce specially firearms

5- Strategic bombing is poorly and historically inaccurate, You don't just send ur bombers to bomb enemy provinces day and night, strategic bombing should have been done in a form of operations or raids on specific cities or locations

6- Close air support is almost useless

7- Allies just keep randomly spamming Amphibious invasions

8- Battles take too long time, In a historical game, a single battle shouldnt take more than 1 week, however in hoi4 it can take up to a month.

9- Tactical deployment makes attacking useless, Together with point 8 it leads to make attacking or offense is even more pointless and less profitable. When you deploy your elite troops to some area to launch an attack, even if you are winning the other side has a plenty of time to move his troops either and make your plan useless. Therefore, your strategic planning, allocation of resources etc... all just went with the wind. WW2 was about anticipating and speculation regarding where the enemy is gonna attack, but when battles take too long then there is no point.

10- Battle width: together with point 8-9 it makes offensive even more ♥♥♥♥, so here is a logical chain of events: you put your elite troops to attack enemy south, battles take too long time which is historically inaccurate, retarded battle width limiting you from scoring quick victory, enemy tactical deploying his north troops = GG you just lost manpower/equipments foolishly bcuz the game is just a big deadlock

11- Fascist/Communist ideologies are just too op making no profit in going democratic at all except being ally of sleepy Britain/ lame France

12- There is no economic flexibility: you can't trade extra equipments for resources, you cant sell resouces, you cant stop trade with or embargo specific country unless you are at war with

13- Diplomacy is just too broken: If you are part of a faction attacking another country, you still can call all your allies even single country in same faction for an offensive war against single country LOL 200IQ AI

14- Naval Invasion battles are horribly broken, you can be winning the battle but finishing it takes more than a week and sometimes even two weeks? so? tropps were fighting on the beach for 2 weeks? is this some sort of a joke? the element of surprise is totally useless when Naval invasions are taking long time since the target army can simply tactical redeploying its troops to reinforce the defending troops

15- Peace conferences are broken asf, you can conquer all the target states by yourself and made him capitulate but still get nothing just bcuz the other involved countries have more losses xD

16- New- Devs still don't bother about fixing the retarded AI, countries declare war on you while your troops are in their borders helping them against common enemy, and out of a sudden , you lose a 6hrs match for a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ AI without getting the fruits of the time you invested in the match, out of a sudden you lose your entire army because of some ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up AI who DEVs dont even bother about fixing.

Am never buying any paradox product again, sadly same model getting copied every time, starts with a promising future then turns into another EAgames business model, cash grabbing without even testing your own product

nice game, but needs more developing specially regarding voice acting instead of just reading boring texts

compared to skyrim? this game is just trash, i advice to invest ur money in a more fun/smart/ open world game like skyrim instead of this trash

poor optimization, fake minimum requirements, Developers are cash hungry, developers don't care about community they care only about streamers cuz they promote the game by giving them extra privilages !! showing ads in paid game is totally a joke and insult for players.

some hints for the Developers to be aware of:

1- i would give a positive review for this game for its unique idea since the game is still in alpha mode

2- i like the idea that the shot is not totally accurate based on the fact that the rifles were primitive as that time

3- it would be very nice & more realistic if you replace the marker with iron sight instead, you don't need to add the aiming nail cuz in that time rifles didn't have iron sight nail. just make the iron sight as a long rifle barrel and players have to aim or guess the aim at the end of the barrel in fps mode. "it will differentiate experianced players from non-experienced"

4- fix your servers, sometimes i cannot join the server and it keeps kicking me off

5- fix the game fail of killing last ticket, sometimes last player hide somewhere and it takes very long time to find him and kill him which is absolutely boring for other players who wait to respawn or starting another match

6- the reload time is fine & realistic

7- add more armies & units for more historically realistic game because napoleon didn't fight only britishs his agressive campaign reached russia , like prussian one - austro-hungary , ottomans, russian maybe.

8- buy this game and support developers to continue that unique idea & game.

9- fix friendly fire "friendly fire has no penalty or kicking penalty!"

10- add some list of ranks so old players can have better fame or differntiate themselves from others, like "red orchestra 2 game" ranking for example

11- sometimes the game makes the whole pc laggs when you exit from it

12- optimize the fps performance, am not a programmer and i can't tell you how but it's your job to figure out, players are having limited amount of fps even on lowest settings. i believe the game engine could provide more fps if the game processed a little more bit. but i still can't blame the DEVs since updates are coming each week means they are already busy with other stuff.

13- enhance the melee or make the movement of the melee smoother.

14- fix the walling bug, i can see enemies through the wall when iam very close or stuck to a wall inside some building

15- proposal: give the "drum or instrumental guys & flag holder men" some value, for example: a little increase in running speed or less reload time while they are around or close to soldiers. and if they got killed you lose that advantage! this will make the game more competitive.

p.s: i may edit this review based on upcoming updates of the game
