Having loved Life is Strange, I am truly disappointed to not recommend this game. I even loved the first episode, and was so ready to get back into it, but as I continued, the more I just wanted it to end.

For starters, I felt like the characters didn't seem right. Without spoiling anything, I thought some characters were nicer than they should have been, or based on the possible decisions, shouldn't have reacted as they did towards each other Life Is Strange. I feel like they didn't connect the two well enough, it didn't flow easily for me. Furthermore, I didn't like how certain characters had to change rapidly to fit, or to be explained away as to not appear in the original.

Dialogue had to have given me the most issues. As for the questions, a number of times i found it where you were given 3 or 4 choices of dialogue, but only one choice would actually advance the conversation, and so it felt awkward how certain conversations flowed. As for the "battles" you can have? the blurb you're given to help decide what to say was NOT a good indicator of what Chloe would say. Sometimes it would come out harsh or sarcastic, or have multiple extra lines attached that would make you never choose that option if you knew.

The. People. Talked... So. Slow. at times. One thing that really hurts pace is when the voice actors don't feel real. A lot of times it felt like sadness was expressed only by how slowly lines were said. It just didn't feel right how certain characters said their lines.

I hated talking to rachel, because so many times she would ask me to decide things, just to tell me she didn't like what I said. Sometiems Chloe would be forced to speak, and I wish she just wouldn't, but the few times not saying anything is an option, it is UNCOMFORTABLE. As if they would go through an animation and just muted any talking, and then conversation would continue as if your response was not considered. Also, why is Rachel making me do all this ♥♥♥♥ for her? for someone who is supposed to be strong and smart, she asks me to do everyyything, regardless of how bad my life is, and then complains or is disappointed when I can't get it all done.

Tl;dr: conversations felt fake and options forced, characters learn things in Before the Storm, but have no knowledge of in Life is Strange (you can't add new stuff to the prequel!), talking to Rachel sucked, and I felt like Ramirez in CoD: MW2.

The game itself is not a bad game, which is why I think so many people gave it good reviews, but this game can't be played without playing the original Life is Strange first, and because of that, this game becomes unplayable.

I thought Rachel would have a power like Max, was disappointed it was just regular choices and a weird "argue to win" minigame.

Oh, and I agree so much that it's strange how they added so much stuff while discussing next to none of the things referenced in the original series. It didn't feel like a prequel at all.

Don't agree that you need to have played LiS to play this, though. I had the opposite impression, I think people should start with BtS.

I loved BtS, but I agree with almost all the things you said, especially the acting (and for that matter choreography) of certain scenes that were supposed to be really emotional or intense, but just felt "flat" and forced.

And the misleading dialogue options. Every time I wanted to say one thing, and Chloe said something completely different, I wished I had Max's rewind option :P .
