I have played probably thousands of hours of Stronghold and Stronghold Crusader in my life (Every other game in the series is terrible).

This is a remaster I was hoping for a lot. I commend the developers for staying true to the graphics and the gameplay. It was already great, there were no real changes needed.

The following things are positives:
Low Price
New Lords (although especially the Warden is buggy)
New Units
New Trails
Co-op (with a Caveat)
Auto-Buy and Sell
New Control Scheme
(The last two were already in Stronghold Definitive Edition so it's actually nothing really new)

Sadly as it's common nowadays the developers apparently haven't done any QA. There are quite a few bugs that range from mildly to very annoying. I try to list all I have seen so far

AI Lords not building Houses and not training troops
Fire Ballista not firing when they have no direct free line of fire (This is insane, it is impossible to fire over walls, even if they would obviously hit)
Enemy Mangonels not firing on you
Ghost units that fire on you and deal damage but are impossible to kill
So far only seen in MP: Ghost Units that are on the map stuck in a sprite, but not actually existing
So far only seen in MP: Control Groups bugging out

I have only played two rounds of Multiplayer/Coop so far, but the game is apparently terribly optimised. It lags so much. I have 100Mbit/S, my mate has 1GBit/S, still it was sooooo sluggish to respond.

Not a bug, but still mildly annoying: In the original editions you could make everything flat by pressing the space bar. Holding right and then moving the mouse down would make everything flatter, but not completely flat. This was somewhat useful in some casing when building your castle. Sadly this option got removed.

Firefly is a small team and the game is cheap, but there are some things they SHOULD have fixed for this release, the most egregious that enemy lords are often unable to finish their castles due to terrain, this is especially bad with Nizar. Often you can just walk right in to their base.
The UCP actually fixed most of those bugs. I understand that they can't just add those to the game even though UCP would have been fine with that, but they didn't even try to fix it. I also would have wished for better AI Lords with better scaling like in the UCP Patch. The game is still extremely easy for veterans.

Overall I am happy with this definitive edition, but even for that cheap price I can only recommend it barely.

Played through the battle as union once. Controls are very finnicky, some design choices are questionworthy. Charging a artillery brigade that has 70 man with an cavalry division of 900 man should result in a pretty fast and clear destruction of said artillery. Of course the game needs to be balanced and I understand this is not total war, but cavalry (and I don't mean the videttes) do not really work. Sometimes I scrolled around the battlefield to see one of my division retreating through all of the enemy divisions?
Overall I often could not figure out why my units aren't really shooting enemy units. Especially with artillery it sometimes is infuriating. Have them on top of a hill, they should have clear sight on enemy division, but for some reason they don't shoot? I had one artillery brigade that collected over a 1000 kills. Some of my other artillery brigades did not fire a single shot during the battle, no matter what I did, even when an enemy division was highlighted in red.
Overall this seems like a cool idea, but it is just infuriating to get this to work properly.

The game has a lot of cool ideas and the story is interesting, but overall it has just too many flaws.
The biggest flaw imho is that you will immediately lose when you completely fall out of favour with any faction. That in itself is not a problem, but the game does not tell you that! It just says "risk of death". But you will just die immediately. Just write that you will die immediately.

Second I don't like the way the story is sometimes represented in videos during which you can't jump ahead, you can just skip them completely. That is lazy design. The story during trials can be clicked ahead, the "story videos" can just be skipped and nothing else.

Third: This game has many different mini-games (interrogations, speeches, trials, intrigues, control over suburbs). None of them are explained very well. You are left to figure out quite a low of it. For example you have different characters to use in the control of the suburbs. You can't read up what they do.

Right now the Eben-Emael Mission is basically unplayable because they changed the rules for paratroopers. Now you can't really encircle Eben-Emael and have to brute force your way through. This issue has been know for more then two weeks now.

When this gets fixed I might change my review.

I have played every creeper world game so far on release. I like all of them very much and I have a lot of fun with them. This is the worst of the four released games so far. That doesn't mean it's bad. I was on the fence whether I should buy it, because I strongly dislike when Games that work perfectly fine in 2d switch to 3d graphics for no good reason. This is one of them. But: The game is still great, I just don't see any reason for 3d. It actually makes stuff in this game needlessly complicated, for example your missiles that stop spores.
Apart from that this game was the usual fun, but there are a few things that bug me.
Why are there no energy storages anymore? Some come prebuild in a few levels, but why can't I build them myself?
Why is there so little research? It was streamlined, but now there is no way to increase the speed of your packages in a meaningful way. You can built micro rifts and that works fine, but they aren't always available or practical.
And the worst flaw in my opinion: Why is there no graph for the other collectible resources besides normal energy? I can see how much "bluite" and "redite" (why change the names?) I collect (per second I guess), but I can't see how much I spend. That should be added.

What also bugs me, is how the tutorial is very barebones. Some things aren't actually explained at all. I don't understand why you can build refineries on redite and bluite tbh.

Apart from that some of the new features are barely used at all (beacon/shield/platform)

Worthy successor to an okay game.
BUT:
I don't know what the hell the developers were thinking when designing the delay when switching through next units. If you click it again before you the camera has stopped moving, the camera will then afterwards not jump to the unit you have chosen, but instead rest on the one you have picked before.
I also don't really understand what the new graphics add to this Game. Same as the new panzer corps series. Panzer Corps 1 had perfect graphics for games like this, Update ruined it. Somewhat the same here, but you can still see everything.
Why this hasn't been released for linux I also do not understand.

edit: Another thing that worked better in the first game and was changed for some stupid reason: You scroll the map by keeping the left mouse button pressed and then moving it. But when you have a unit selected and try to do this, it will actually move. Keeping the mouse pressed should overwrite moving, but for some stupid reason it doesn't. I have attacked quite a few times when I didn't want to and lost steps. And since you can't reload a turn or undo a combat move, you will have to live this, this is especially annoying when you are almost done with a map.

It is a good game.
Right now it is poorly optimized. I am over 80% gpu usage all the time and often at 100%(!). Apparently fixing this has top priority right now. Let's hope this will be fixed fast.
The new 3D graphics take some time getting used to. I liked 2D more.
The new core limiting mechanics are really cool, makes you think what units to use.
I haven't used splitting units really, I see no real reason to use it at any point.
The new heroes and achievement mechanics for units are really good and allow for customization, although I would like it, if there would be more different achievements for recon planes or artillery for example.
The campaign is good so far, although a bit boring, because it's the same mission all over again, conquer some victory tiles.
The scope of the game is also kinda small right now, but this was to be expected. Looking forward for the new campaigns.

8/10 so far.

Way too many bugs and game-breaking stuff happens. This makes playing this game just unfun. They had so much time for this DLC, is a little bit of bug-testing too much to ask? Especially when it happens to nations that are the Focus of this DLC? It seems like they did not even had one full playthrough as the Confederate States? This is just insane...

So I decided to give it another try because I thought it might be unfair to form an opinion that fast. So I tried another game as Great Britain and decided to go for Britzkrieg and William Wallis. This time, everything went a bit better and there were no gamebreaking bugs for a long time. Until I puppeted the US and wanted to put Wallis Simpson on the throne. I could not find the decision. Turns out, that after around one month of game time, you have to decide for a full marriage and not a morganatic marriage like I did. This is not explained anywhere and also not logical. I just conquered the united states, I can do as I please.
Anyways, I then decided to get the achievement "last a thousand years". Seemed easy enough, I got the for dominions as integrated puppets and over 600 PP stored. Took the imperial conference focus, started the first discussion. Two agreed, two denied. Afterwards I was not able to pick another discussion. 60 days later the conference was over and nothing happened. No clue why it would be like this.

Also: the decisions tab is littered with a lot of decisions that can't be taken at any time and do not disappear. For example I have the option to repair the suez canal, which is not destroyed. I could also invite imperial canada into my alliance. Which is pointless, since they are already in my alliance.

Edit: I do not know why this says "0 hours played". I played the game for almost 1000 hours and this DLC for around 10 hours as well.

This is the first time that I am dissapointed with a DLC or Immersion Pack. And this is not because of the price or the quantity/quality of the content. We can argue about that as well, but in my opinion, it is "just" 10€, which is not that much, so one can not expect too much. Thats why it is called immersion pack. Sure, there is not much immersion there for Iberia, except some new mission trees.
There are two things which really annoy me.

1.) One of the "big" features" are the pirate nations. Sadly, you almost never get to see them, except for the one nation in SE Asia that starts as one. I have played until 1700 and not one of all the nations spawned.


2.) It is not playtested. There are so many bugs in this immersion pack, which ruin the fun for me. For example, some missions in the spanish tree are supposed to move the capital of your colonial nations. Instead they move your own Capital! So my Capital was moved from Toledo to Mexico City. This obviously does not work, since it belongs to my colonial nation. So, on the next day, another province was picked as my capital. In this case Guyenne was picked. This means I have to move it back for a cost of over 200 mp. This does not only make your capital more exposed, it also ruins trade, because your trade capital moves with it. This makes me feel like no one ever actually bothered to check those missions.
There are multiple other bugs due to this immersion pack. I have no problem with them releasing small DLCs and Immersion Packs and so far I always got 2 or 3 fun playthroughs out of them. But this is just infuriating.

It's a good game and for the price you can't really go wrong. Don't expect anything genrebreaking. But it is thoroughly enjoyable. It's a pretty easy game (although i only play on normal, so i guess it would be harder on higher difficulties.)

The surroundings are pretty beautiful and diverse, although the graphics are not amazing. But thats okay for a ARPG. The battle system is pretty funny, there are a lot of different skills and attacks and auras. There are a lot of diverse enemies with a lot of different skills, but still you dont really need different tactics to defeat them. I play as a ranged character and basically you just shoot the enemies and run circles around them, most engagements can be won very easily, and even if you should have problems, you can buy infinite potions and you will have a looooot of money. (Like every game really, i don't understand why there never is a game where money is scarce). The game is missing a real tutorial, in the beginning there are a lot of things you will not immediately understand, but after some hours you will.

But yeah, 10€ for well over 10 hours of good gameplay should be a no-brainer.
