Axis 26 is an indie created football simulation game featuring a full franchise mode, custom team, playbooks, and plays for the full experience of managing a football team. You set your strategies through play calling, and playbook play selection. For Franchise you can select a team you want to lead and you'll have all the necessary decisions to make including hiring and firing coaches. The game has a dedicated discord and over a dozen or more sim football affiliates working with Axis to help shape the teams better. It's worth the effort to play.

I've been a role-playing player since high school. I love the dynamic adventure RPG games provide. My first character was a Paladin Knight under earlier D&D editions (Advanced D&D). When Baldur's Gate, the first version, I didn't lean toward CRPG because there was Ultimate Online and Everquest. However, what BG3 did is to help me understand 5th Edition D&D. I didn't know how much depth there was. BG3 and subsequent modding tools will be an official challenger to Skyrim. Both CRPGS are worth of your time, but BG3 has a Ready to Serve option and more depth of characters. Enjoy.

What's in a name. Super Mega Baseball will challenge your ability not to chuckle at some of the names, the characters, and there's a team for any play style. Do you like to steal, there is a speed team. Do you enjoy crushing the cover off of the baseball, there's a power team. The real joy of this game is the depth, the details, and the hilarious player enhancements. I recommend starting at 25 then work your way to 50. You should be able to compete at 60-75 without any issues. Always go through a full season at one level.

Its a refreshing change from the Madden franchise hype. Madden was made for gamepad ballers. Axis doesn't require a gamepad to play but is useful. I like the coach mode myself - better to see the mistakes than to create them myself. The playbook is very generic, but enough to run a solid offense. I have yet to play a full season, still trying to learn the playbook.

Even after 11 years of Legendary Edition, Special Edition, and recently Anniversary Edition it is a life long game allowing people to modify and expand the world - just ask Shirley who's been playing Skyrim so long, they made an NPC in her likeness. Name any other game that can do that. Oh, you want Dark Souls gameplay? There's a mod or two for that! Have fun!

Out of the box with very little instructions, you'll need to be creative with your game play. Don't assume you can take on every foe you face; sometimes you will have to skirt around to get power ups and other gems found in the game. The level up system is not automatic, and requires a bit of intuition. Good luck - and try to avoid looking at YT videos in the initial levels. Slow is smooth. Smooth is fast.

Real Time Strategy mixed in with First Person Shooter and technical vehicles, you can't ask for much more in a game. How about airstrikes? Check. Forward spawn points. Check. Espresso machine? It's possible, but how about a cup of just black coffee in the morning? Very enjoyable action...word to the wise: you have to have skill in this game or you will die.

If you love poker, you will enjoy Governor of Poker 2. It has AI that is typical to tournament and cash game players in real life. Your mileage will vary if you have a set paradigm about simulated poker games Online games like WSOP, Poker Heat and others have the ability to irritate people and therefore become stale for game play. Not GOP2. It will keep you entertained and filthy rich if you play your cards right. There is too much depth to the game to explain here - and there is a great guide for players that explains a little of what is going on.

For a quick football game, it has the elements we are used to from Madden. However, it lacks depth at every function, especially in the playbook - you can't flip the defense which I feel is a serious negative. Also, you can substitute, but there is no auto sub feature, something that should have been included along with defensive play flip. Spectate is the only option for franchise - I've coached a franchise game, and I'm 3-0. Granted, the last game I gave up 35 points, but I just recently learned how to adjust my DL, LB, and DB moving faster LB's and DB's off the line for blitzing. Exhibition game I had 4 sacks and held total offense to 72 yard using 5 minute quarters. The AI is too easily manipulated. I have my franchise on Pro or the next one after that. One of the good features of Axis is that going up one level of difficulty doesn't make it impossible to win.

It has potential, but there is a lot of work to be done.

SimCity - many decades ago..DOS version - was the city planner I played through version 4. Simtropolis added much needed content to that game. Skylines however is ready to go out of the box and much more challenging. Both have milestones, but Skylines has a much greater ownership. While I've started my cities repeatedly as I learn and adapt new strategies, I find there is more satisfaction in Skylines. SC4 with mods from Simtropolis added value. Skylines has Workshop mods, but I'm still working off of vanilla which is very deep to start with. Adding in DLCs, mods, styles, etc. is a little more advanced than SC4. I give the edge to Skylines out of the box experience. Enjoy!
