Aww man I pre-ordered it and everything. Steam (thankfully) was lenient enough to refund it after 3ish hours.
The controls, mainly menu navigations, are garbage.
The game looks... above average... on max settings.
The way I've played JC games are as such:
1. Complete everything 2. Have my fun.
The problem is that the missions are boring slogs, and the "liberation" changes are confusing at best. Yes, while I get that a game can't stay stagnant, the method of just exploding everything in JC3 made it quick and easy to liberate areas - while also satisfying because the game told you which big things to explode, expediting the whole process: you feel like a god. In 4, the chaos army front lines thing is just confusing, poorly implemented and honestly disvalues the whole destruction aspect because you feel like you have to grindingly hunt down these explodables with no guidance. It's boring to me. Blowing stuff up was a boring grind.
That all being said, I'm now inspired to go back to JC3 and get the last few achievements I need. Because that game is just flat-out better.
If this was the first game in the series, it'd be a solid entrance really. However as a follow-up to JC3 it's a disappointing mess.

I've played Payday since The Heist on Ps3, when I got into pc gaming I re-bought The Heist and bought 2.
I loved both games dearly, and they were games I always played with friends, always had installed, and always followed.
I tolerated the DLC asking prices, and paid for every single one at the time of this posting.
But, after the Crimefest Day 1 update - I can't guarantee that I will ever again.
CS:GO is fine with skins because the items do NOT affect gameplay, but in Payday 2 the new stat boosts add an effect that is not only cosmetic but is gameplay altering - this isn't a marketplace addition, it's a microtransaction system.
Payday 2 was, to me, an amazing game, with varying gameplay and consistent updates - always some reason to come back. And, it still is.
However, do I wish to fiscally support this company anymore? No, and odds are I probably won't.
Overkill, if you care, you know what to do.
But you don't, do you?
