As you might expect, Tunic is indeed like Zelda -- but not necessarily the one you're thinking of. To me, it's like Zelda in its oldest incarnations, The Legend of Zelda and The Adventure of Link. These were games that explained little of themselves, their world was a mystery, and you'd scour the manual and included maps for hints. You'd take notes of bizarre riddles and shreds of information that may be of use in the future. That's the kind of Zelda game Tunic is most like to me; much more than "A Link to the Past but you're a cute fox," in other words.

And it takes this concept of unguided, pure adventure and mystery to wowing lengths. You get the feeling that the developers truly understand mystery and its transportative effect to a child-like state of wonder. If this is something you crave, Tunic will delight and surprise even when you think you understand it. Let the game work its magic on you, give it time to sink in, and you will get an experience that is engrossing and rewarding. Treat it with care because games like these are very rarely found and their magic is easy to dispel by impatience.

Tunic is my favorite game of 2022 and among my favorites in general. It isn't perfect -- its combat design and map layout are occasionally frustrating, for example -- but it is a game well-worth the time and effort, and it's designed ingeniously where it matters most to me.

Even if you weren’t entirely on board with Rogue Legacy (like myself), give the sequel a shot. It’s remarkable just how much of a step up this is while maintaining the general outline of the original. The platforming and combat feel much more direct and snappy, and the added layers of customization make each run more distinct. Having a blast so far, and I can see myself losing many, many hours to this.

Webbed is an excellent concept platformer and my personal favorite game of 2021. It's not especially flashy or expansive, but it offers something really valuable that few other games can: a genuinely novel experience.

The effortlessness with which you can soar through the play space of Webbed is remarkable. It feels fantastic to do and the fluidity of your movement is joyous in and of itself -- I was smiling ear to ear for most of my playtime. It's rare that a game can elicit such strong feelings from such a basic mechanic and that Webbed managed to do so is a real achievement. As you play, you'll also discover fun interactions between the player and world, like being able to use a little leaf to float around. Deft touches like these really show that the developers put a great deal of heart and thought into Webbed, and I appreciate the game all the more for it.

In addition to fun web slinging traversal, the game has you work out situational puzzles involving moving objects into the right places and affixing things to one another using your web. This is a less precise mode of play than its platforming and sometimes things don't quite go the way you want them to, but on the balance I had a lot of fun with these challenges and they brought a welcome variety to the game.

The environments in Webbed also contain a bunch of collectibles and secrets for you to find and unlock new skins for your little spider. Fun diversions for if you want to get a bit more out of the game. While I found a fair number of these, I personally didn't go out of my way to go the completionist route because I felt I'd had a worthwhile and satisfying experience without that. For those who enjoy stuff like this, the game does a good job of keeping track of all these bits and bobs in a little diary and marks areas you've completed. Great!

What I also appreciated were Webbed's accessibility options. While I didn't have to make use of them myself, the game thoughtfully offers a setting for the arachnophobic, which turns spiders into little blobs with googly eyes. A feast for the Rare fan too, I suppose. Aside from that, the game has a range of options that can help visually impaired players by adding outlines that make it easier to discern the player and environmental objects, and you can reduce visual noise by minimizing both the depth of field blur in the background and disabling foreground objects. Really considerate and I'm thankful the game has these.

I could go on about more minutia but suffice it to say that the game is excellent and well worth its price of admission. Webbed is pure video game joy and you should play it.

If Family Guy-esque idiosyncratic randomness that goes on for way too long and guys doing fake Eastern European accents tickle your specific sense of humor, this game will be delightful and it has a ton stuff you can click on for even more flavor text and soundbites. If not, Paradigm has little left to offer because the puzzles aren't especially clever or fun and the story is not really exciting. The game got a few laughs out of me, but by the halfway point it just got grating.

A definite must-play for longtime fans of nonogram puzzles and Picross as well as newcomers. Clear tutorialization, a wealth of content, customizability, Workshop support, mosaic puzzles, endless mode and daily challenges make Pictopix one of the most feature rich games of this type. And all that for an exceedingly reasonable price. Can't go wrong picking this up.

I've only scratched the surface, but Tametsi has already offered staggering value in terms of the quantity of puzzles ahead relative to the game's asking price. What's more is that so far its puzzles have all been wonderfully ingenious, and the ability to take notes without existing the game is such a great feature. An absolute no-brainer of a purchase for anyone even remotely interested in logic puzzles, fans of Hexcells and/or players on a budget. Great game by a seemingly really generous developer.

It's a cool game that I enjoyed playing once, even though the ending I got was unsatisfying. The actors' performances are genuinely good, the story has its moments, and the package captivated me enough to go through it in a single sitting.

The lack of a way to jump to major decision points from your last playthrough to redo things was disappointing though. This would've made replaying it a lot more enjoyable. As it stands, you have to go through the entire thing, which is not great and even though I liked the game just fine, it's difficult to justify sitting through much of the same content just to change the course of an ending, for example. I wish the game would also chill with the prompts a little and let the scenes play on their own a bit longer.

Anyway, it's a fun romp and I'd recommend it if you've got even a passing interest in nonstandard games or FMV games.

A fun and light adventure game that's heavier on story than puzzling. It's got a strong aesthetic and a soundtrack with lots of memorable tracks, backed by solid writing, interesting characters and excellent voice acting. I felt like it dragged a little by the end, but I enjoyed playing this pretty much from start to finish.

Kathy Rain's brisk pace and sensical puzzles make for a fun and breezy experience that doesn't overstay its welcome. It's not exactly groundbreaking, but it'll be just right if you're looking to play a more traditional adventure game without cross-referencing guides every few minutes. Good!
