Hours Played: 1400
Version Bought: Deluxe (EGS)

Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege was originally introduced to me by a friend in 2018. I recollect very little from that incident, but I do remember purchasing the game and playing it for an hour or so. Didn't like it a lot as I didn't understand the mechanics and it didn't run well on my computer.

Fast forward around 2 years. The lockdown starts and we are all stuck at home with nothing to do. I had recently upgraded my PC aswell. Me and my school friends played almost everyday, mainly FPSs. One day we notice one of us a weird 6 symbol in his game activity. "Playing Rainbow Six Siege, looking for quick match.'' And it all hit me, I instantly remembered buying Siege and playing it almost 2 years ago. This continued for a while. We used to get off whatever we were playing and my friend would load up Siege.

Finally, one day I asked him. "Hey, you've been playing for a quite some time, how do you like it? ''It's quite fun", he replied. Then and there, I decided that I would get the game whenever it came on sale.

It was 28th September, 2020. I bought the deluxe edition. It finished downloading in an hour and I was ready; ready to relive a game I somewhat experienced ages ago.

It was exhilarating. I was so engrossed by the different gadgets and the maps. I remember getting frustrated about how there wasn't a minimap. "WHY ISN'T THERE A BLOODY MINI MAP FOR REFERENCE! How am I supposed to know where they are pushing from?" All my friend ever said was, "Once you acquire the gamesense, it will became easier to anticipate rushes."

I didn't give up, I grinded and played everyday. The first operator I mastered was Doc. I remember loving the P90 and used to tease everyone who used the Mp5. I used to struggle putting bulletproof cams on walls. "How do I put it?'' I used to ask my friend. "Just put it?", he used to reply not paying attention.

It took me around a month to start memorising names, gadgets and maps but I did it. I experienced the reward of putting the effort in. I got addicted. Soon enough I could anchor, roam, trick and even spawnpeek. Oh! The joys I felt taking the life of the enemy not 10 seconds into the round.

Siege has uplifted me, given me purpose and let me enjoy what I want to do, play games. I don't care how toxic the community is or how blatant the hacks are, it doesn't even come close to the reward you get for putting the effort in it. Thank you Ubisoft, thank you for such a masterpiece. Never let it die.
