i love the complexity of the game with all my heart. however it is new player unfriendly and many of my friends quit before they got a real taste of the game. also the omega tactic feels predatory AF, i understand unlocking more stuff and having to spend SOME money on the F2P game (so they can profit from their game) - i've done so myself, HOWEVER what isn't good at all is you having to upkeep that ,,premium'' status in order to actually USE the stuff you unlocked. and yes, you can farm ingame for it BUT with the availability of high-profit operations on alpha (or lack thereof) basically means you HAVE to wait and skill an account with omega for months before you can actually become ,,redundant from your IRL wallet'' which is a shame.
game devs have continously proven me and other people that they dont give a sht about the ,,f2p'' community (WHICH I WASN'T A PART OF WHEN I STILL PLAYED) by e.g. deleting free rewards for playing etc.

also the game really ,,rewards'' big groups (like many MMO's) which is extremely bad for people who would like to casually explore the game and just have fun not having to sweat about getting killed in high-sec (the ,,safer'' zones) by a group of bored 40 people ganking in their throwaway ships.

the game's depth is great and i didn't mind spending many months learning the it and NUMEROUS different playstyles (check out ,,eve online career chart"), however once you specialise it's extremely hard to ,,respecialise'' since it takes months to research skills (which IMO is not that big of a problem on it's own)
unfortunately, combined with the predatory premium account tactics it is hell since youre either paying or are locked to grinding for months before you can TRY a different thing and see if you might like it.

i don't have a bad word to say about the games ,,admins'' since they are really nice to talk to and overall ,,customer'' service is really nice itself.

greed ruined this game (which i would gladly pay SOME amount of money for, or a SMALL continuous stream of money on) and it made me withdraw altogether. 20 euro for one month omega??? no thanks i'd rather go and dive IRL since thats basically the cost of one dive. why pay for the ability to grind further when you can do fun stuff irl or go get other games.

this game would be a STRONG YES from me if it wasn't for the increasing (unnecessary) level of greed from the (i suppose it was their inititiatives) CEOs

i'm open for discussion in the comments :p

Hey there N4js,

EVE Online in its core, is a subscription-based game, and like most other MMORPGs in the gaming space, it requires an upkeep of a subscription to continue being able to log in and to play with their skillpoints/rewards obtained from being subscribed.

Some games in the space, however, don't offer a free-to-play mode like EVE Online does, we understand that it may be limited in what you can do, what you can fly, and what you can fit. It does however, allow players to be able to try the game out before purchasing and seeing if this is a game for them, and in some cases, get re-acquainted with game mechanics should they be returning before buying a subscription and jumping into the deep end.

Being a part of a big alliance or a coalition in-game can offer a lot of benefits, but it can also cause problems. Should there be a war between the 2 alliances, one alliance may focus on killing specifically members of the other and vice versa. These players then stop being a target of opportunity and become hunted systematically.

We do understand that skill training takes time, and that re-specializing cross-race to a different weapon system or simply specializing for a new mechanic can take time. That's why we offer players to purchase expert systems, which allow them to try out certain mechanics with skills they haven't trained, before spending a few weeks, in some cases months, training in said skills.

It is worth noting that should a player want to try out a specific play style or a specific game mechanic, they don't have to train all of the skill requirements to level 5, fly the perfect ship or with the perfect fit. It is perfectly fine to go try it while being a little under-skilled/under-fitted and seeing if they enjoy it.

We do, however, understand that EVE Online may not be for everyone, but we thank you for playing and reviewing EVE Online.

From your store page:
"EVE Online is a free-to-play community driven space MMO". This is not true.

It is as much F2P as it's and extended trial like in WoW.
Alpha skill limitations and also locked out of high lvl missions & stuff it's an extended trial than a real F2P game where you can play most/all content for free but pay some money for cosmetics or QoL.
