Little King's Story is a game released in 2009 and was exclusive to Wii. It's a charming little game with great music and "Pikmin-esque" gameplay, while not being as challenging. I played the original game and after playing this version, I can say this is pretty much the same package that players got on the Wii, for better or worse.

The controls are kind of annoying, and if you have one I would strongly recommend using a controller so you don't have to bend your hands across the keyboard. The camera turning is slow, but not much of an issue since you won't find UMA (monsters) hiding behind walls often. The movement is 8 directional like the original Wii version. Sometimes you might struggle with aiming, but your aiming line often snaps onto targets just by being near them. Along with this I've had some audio issues with my Dolby headphones and had to use the system speakers in order to hear the game, and there were a few times where I had frame drops (which isn't saying much since I'm using a subpar laptop). The game speed is also locked to the framerate, meaning that forcing the framerate to go above the original 30FPS will actually speed the game up. If you can learn to use the controls, get around frame and audio issues and start the game, you've got yourself a decent game.

The game plays out in a story mode, where you must travel the land, defeat guardians and kings and expand your kingdom for total world domination. Throughout this you can unlock new professions for your people, allowing you to progress further through the game or trivialise certain enemies/obstacles. You can take an increasing amount (initially 5, but that quickly increases to about 15 and then eventually 30) of townsfolk and order them to fight or work for you. Most of your entourage will be made up of grunts and warriors, while your other men would allow you to dig for Bol (the currency), chop fallen logs and mine rocks. Some of these people have special abilities, such as Miners being able to crack large boulders and instantly kill rock monsters, while Chefs can quickly dispatch chickens. All of these people, including yourself, have a certain amount of hit points, and when it reaches zero, that person dies. The game is pretty forgiving though, since the recently deceased have a fairly high chance of showing up again on the beach the next day.

Don't take this game for face value, it does get really weird down the line. You'll be subjected to (STORY SPOILERS)multiple, mostly narcissistic and very eccentric kings such as King Duvroc, a heavy drinker who spews burning hot liquid and freezing cold mist from drinking too much, King T.V. Dinnah, a literal television who is also the host of many self-broadcasted channels, and King Jumbo Champloon, an eraser. You also acquire multiple wives throughout the story and then have to divorce all but one at the end, only for her to become VORED BY A GIANT RAT. It's kind of messed up, but that's okay because (MORE SPOILERS)it was all part of your imagination anyway. Don't get me wrong though, the buildup to it was really clever.

I'd personally recommend buying this on the Wii/Wii U, but if you don't own either of those, this is the closest you're going to get and you should definitely get it.

All the cools kids seem to be doing their "first few hours" of games, so I'll give it a go.

Joined a random public official server. I had next to no idea what I was meant to be doing, but I had a rock and three meters. I spawned in at night on a small beach, so I instantly began to freeze and lost a bit of health. Following the coastline, I found many houses (in hindsight, they were all probably abandoned), and pilfered some pumpkins and corn from a small crop field. I then immediately hightailed it to the mountains and began cutting down some trees for wood. After about 45 minutes of running around and trying to figure out how to cook food, I died of food poisoning from stolen food after starving and drinking salty water.

Spawn back in again and this time I go straight to looking for food. I found some mushrooms but I guess they belonged to a guy as he shot me with an arrow. I managed to hide inside a bush, but I spent the next ten minutes hiding inside of it thinking he was still there, until I poked my head out and found out it was a horse. Didn't find any food but I found a player idling on the beach. Died of starvation.

This time, I went inland. There were a lot of gunshots in the distance and people getting angry over someone cheating. I got shot in the back by a guy with a bow, who then apologized thinking that I was a threat and let me go. For whatever reason I thought it would be a good idea to run towards the gunshots. Got scared and hid in another bush. I slowly snuck inside an empty house and took my bearing. Killed a horse (first kill!) and ate it over a fire in the empty shack. I then got out of the warzone and headed towards the beach. I was still pretty hungry so I needed to get some food. After following the beach for some time I found and killed a wild boar, who happily dropped four pork for me, enough to sustain me for a long time. After chasing down another boar, a man saw me, shot me, berated me for my sloppy fighting (despite never really ever fighting before) and then murdered me with my own spear.

I joined a new server (my dignity was low but spirits still high) and went exploring the forests. The people here (if there were people) were a bit more friendly, keeping their distance from me. I actually managed to make myself a bow, 100 arrows and a burlap suit. But food was another story. I searched every forest and valley for food and all I could find was the occasional mushroom. No deer, horse or boar to be seen. I pilfered another pumpkin farm and set to work building a base, only to be suprise attacked by a bear and killed. I did build a sleeping bag this time, but the bear just turned around and immediately killed me again anyway.

After 3 hours, 4 or so deaths and 6 or so kills, I think I'm done for the moment. This game is fun, but I don't think I can get too invested in it what with all the raiding and such.

After playing the game on and off for almost 300 hours, initially being disappointed in it, playing with friends and then finding the ingenious design of the game compelling, I think this game is easily one of my favourite games now, and I can easily recommend it to anyone with a passion in problem solving and management on both micro and macro levels.

Factorio is similar to an RTS where you must build a base, expand, research technologies and create weapons to fight off oppressors, whether they be aliens defending their homes or other hostile players. The majority of the game focuses on maximizing the effectivness of your factory. The way the game is designed is incredible, since there is always something you can do to increase productivity, and with an infinitely expanding world you can create factories potentially so large that you would be better off building from the minimap. Despite not actually launching a rocket, there are so many systems at work that allow you to control and define your factory that you'll find it hard to make two identical factories without using blueprints. And even though there seems to be far too much to manage in the game, it never really feels like an overwhelming task to complete, since the game progesses in difficulty and complexity only as quickly as your factory does in size.

In summary, this is a perfect game for lovers of the PvE base building genre who want more control of how their creations function. The freedom of how you solve a problem and the limited punishment is very rewarding for the newest player or the oldest.

If I were to write this as if it was a new game, I would say that The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth is a solid dungeon-crawling roguelike top-down shooter that combines the design of the original Legend of Zelda with the dynamics of popular bulletstorm games like Galaga or Touhou and the insanity of upgrade games such as Risk of Rain to create a crisp, fresh game worth sinking many hours into. The depth of the game extends from what the player sees from the surface as you unlock things while you progress through the game, giving the player more strategies and more interesting playthroughs.

However, if I were to write this as if it was a remake, I'd say that The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth lives up to the title the original game gave itself, boasting a wide variety of old and new features, items, characters and achievements. With a new, polished style in the creator's vision and a strong soundtrack to follow in suit along with new features such as co-op and saving, Rebirth goes beyond its father's limitations and provides new and old players with a revised, bugfixed and improved game.

Off the bat, I did notice that the mouse no longer functioned within the menus, which was disappointing, yet it did not take away from the experience. Additionally, I found the new map a bit of a problem to wrangle with, especially with transperancy issues, along with an exploit with the Soul Convertor and Guppy's Paw. Some characters also seemed unbalanced due to upgrades negating effects and others seemed a little weak, but hey, it's the luck of th draw.
