This one surprised me; I don't go in for dating sims but I'm glad I played it. If you have any preconceptions about this game they're probably lies; go in as blindly as possible. The story initially struck me as superficial and the characters quite 1-D and archetypal, but persevering reveals that the writing is cleverer than it lets on and the story reveals real intelligence and substance. The art and music are very playful and engaging, particularly in the mid-to-late game. It has a serious message on the subject of mental health, but I felt like the rest of the story didn't support that message very well. I also found the ending really, really rushed.
However it's usually more about the journey than the destination and I do feel that this is a game worth playing. Pay attention to the very beginning in particular.

This game makes a strong first impression, but the more time you spend with it the more disappointing it turns out to be. You can see a hell of a lot of creativity went into it, from the 101 unique monsters and the art which is great throughout. The music is also good, though repetitive. The writing is quite funny, with a tone that comes across as "knowingly edgy"... but nearer the end you wonder if it's actually that knowing.

The gameplay is the serious weak link and the game really falls down because of it. Each monster seems to have their own unique minigame but as you progress you see that is not the case, and every 5 or so monsters are defeated the same way. Tracking down each monster becomes pretty tedious, and there are only two real boss fights. Platforming difficulty feels artificial because of the awkward, slippery controls and physics, and one-hit-kill spikes which are a cheap-and-cheerful way to ramp up difficulty. Those spikes will kill you more times than any of the monsters.

Beating the game yields the incriminating photos you were tracking down, which are creative but not funny enough to pay off. The DLC and post-game content takes the form of more missions, which I didn't have the heart to complete because I couldn't stand interacting with the control system any more.

Reviewers generally decided this game was all style and no substance, and they're about right. I'd probably recommend watching a speedrun of this game rather than playing it, so you can witness the great art and music without the tedious gameplay. Arkedo's next game, "Poof", got marginally better scores so I assume they have learned some lessons from this one.

Excellent casual game; one of my favourites. Would have been nice if they had ramped the difficulty up more, but Endless mode is there to scratch that itch. Great sense of humour, really nice art, solid and creative gameplay, no known bugs, no microtransactions, just lovely. Controversial statement but you can occasionally get this "on the house" on Origin if you keep an eye out.

Ay Dios Mio, me encanta mucho esta juego! My only problem with Guacamelee! Gold Edition was it was painfully short, but there are two gorgeous new levels to deal with that. It looks beautiful, the music's excellent, the story's exciting, and the gameplay is just right. One of the only games that has motivated me to get 100% and beat Hard Mode (still working on that). One or two glitches, and "Trolololol!" is not an acceptable boss laugh, but who cares, it's a brilliant game, get it now.

I want to start by saying I do not believe that Fred got as far as he did without ever dying!
Maybe I'm not skilled enough but I found it really frustrating to play on controller - I'd have given up by the third part if the game didn't look as incredible as it does. The visuals are gorgeous and the sound is great, but meeting Fred was anticlimactic and I felt like they could have spent more time on that part.
I thought some of the tags were placed badly, and there's some hitbox weirdness which can send you flying in the wrong direction even if you grapple onto the tag. Sometimes you will grapple onto a platform, but if you're not quite above the platform you'll get stuck just below it - I don't think it would have hurt to just move the player above the platform.
The story and message is quite sweet as well, and there are loads of easter eggs and collectibles that I will look for when my hands recover and I play through it again. If you like the idea of swinging through the air, and you're not a fan of Spiderman, you'll love this.

Poker Night 2 is a great improvement on Poker Night 1, offering new opponents, 10 exclusive items (5 for TF2 and 5 for Borderlands 2), items that change the theme of the whole Inventory, the Omaha game mode (I prefer Hold 'Em as a great Hold 'Em hand often becomes a terrible Omaha hand) and GLaDOS AS THE DEALER. The dialogue and animation are even better than the original, and the AI seems to be scarier - rounds rarely end without at least one opponent going all in. A few negatives: quite a lot of typos in the subtitles; Brock's dialogue is a bit quiet sometimes; no options to reduce the amount of chatter; didn't seem to work well with a controller.

This game is simply poker, but it's much more entertaining than other virtual poker games because of its funny, quirky animation and dialogue. Probably good for learning Texas Hold 'Em, as well as scoring 5 different items for Team Fortress 2! My advice would be to turn the NPC chatter down to low, as you'll be playing quite a few games and the conversations will start to repeat.

I probably should have gone into this knowing more about the game. I honestly went in thinking I'd just have a friendly chat and a story would build up outside of the chat. It wasn't until maybe 2004 that I realized I should have been treating her as a love interest. It looked like choices had an impact so I thought I'd push on with the "just friends" attitude. By the end of the game our conversation had petered out into a bland small-talk fest until we stopped altogether. But the characters were very believable (if pretty flat) and it turned out worryingly like all the other online chats I've ever had, so it definitely scores points for realism. Maybe play it the way the game wants you to play it and you'll have a better time!

WOW. This is the first Telltale game I've played and it's a brilliant experience. The simplest way to describe it is Shrek meets The Wire (except that this game is excellent whereas that would be terrible).

You have loads of potential to be 'nice', a bit of an a-hole or out-and-out nasty. I've nearly finished chapter 5, trying to be the good guy, and will probably start a 'nasty run' straight after the end credits.

My only gripes are some minor visual mistakes (Snow White apparently can call lifts with her mind and actually pressing the button is optional) and occasionally a set of choice options won't appear correctly. Also the character bios spell out a lot of stuff an intelligent player can work out, but that's not really a problem.

I'm not a big comic reader but I will be seeking out the Fables series now. If Telltale could come back to this game and iron out those tiny technical problems, I'd happily give it 10/10.

Almost a perfect game. It may not be everyone's cup of tea, but you've got to try this.
