If you like first person bullet heaven games then this is a very fun one with a ridiculous amount of guns and items plus six distinct characters with their own play styles and skill trees. I find it a bit odd that you have to use your skull points to unlock each gun per character but other than that, for a couple of bucks on sale, this is definitely a well made and entertaining bullet heaven fps reminiscent of mothergunshhip.

Initial thoughts - will likely update in 10-20 more hrs of gameplay

Arc Raiders currently feels like a heavily simplified version of Tarkov, which is appealing because Tarkov is overly complex IMHO. Arc incorporates elements of environmental interaction and looting reminiscent of DayZ, while its attempt to replicate the masterful PvPvE boss-fighting and world-building of Hunt falls significantly short. While Hunt sets an exceptionally high bar, with seven to eight more years of development, its environments are exquisitely designed, oozing with passionately designed rich atmosphere and meticulous, handcrafted detail that even surpasses the loving environmental quality of even Red Dead Redemption 2 – Gerald please don’t kill me.

Although it’s early days for Arc Raiders as a live service game, so I realise it will continually improve, though Hunt’s initial release was superior compared to Arc’s. I strongly dislike the mundane and repetitive Bethesda-style missions required for gathering tons of resources and unlocking content, the Tarkov-esque base building, station-making, and upgrading as unnecessary time sinks intended solely to keep players engaged and spending money in a live service model. It appears as if these features distracted the developers from focusing on intense PvPvE fights and environments/immersion, which is why I favour Hunt above all, as it stripped out this progression ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ to concentrate on core gameplay. Though, Hunt has recently introduced optional time-sink quests which I dislike at least they waited eight years to work on the game to introduce those and they are entirely optimal unlike in Arc where you have to do them to progress.

Despite these reservations, I enjoyed my first coop session last night playing with someone I met and had fun working together. I’d likely have been upset, so far, if I paid over $25 but since I got it for $2.45 you’ll have no complaints about price to game time and enjoyment from me. I definitely look forward to playing for a while (20-50 hours), particularly with the bros, anticipating it will be a blast, and then likely returning for major updates to see how the game has progressed. I am most definitely looking forward to getting back to playing multiplayer with whacky buddies, the ensuing funny bros banter, and general ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that seems to take place in these games with friends.

This is the best Souls game hands down and don't let my low play time fool you. A lot of times when I am unsure I will pirate a game to see if it has teeth as the steam 2 hours is never enough for a truly good game. I probably played like 20 hours of this at the bare minimum when I realized that I was loving it and had to support it so I bought it and the DLC, moved my save file over to the steam version and continued from there. So, I probably have at least 30 hours in this game altogether if not a lot more as I got sucked into the game when I had it pirated and bought it late in the base game.

If you want to play a Dark Souls game this is the one to play as it is the most polished IMHO.

It's one hell of a fun ride. It is crazy that something that looks so ridiculously stupid is this good! If you like old school fast paced shooters with new school mechanics and complete zany fun then this is a time and a half for you. I definitely recommend this game 42069%

For what it is it is amazing and even at full price it is beyond a steal of a deal. In the right conditions the frame generation can be near perfect in terms of not being able to notice any artifacting and/or ghosting during game play when not specifically trying to look for it. I am amazed one person has done as good or better than a 4 trillion dollar (nvidia) and a 390 billion dollar (AMD) company.

This is worth way more than full price and on sale it feels like literal robbery. This developer deserves to utmost praise for their insanely talented work that keeps getting better and better.

Great fun! Kind of like risk of rain meets third person bullet heaven type deal and I am loving it so far. The only downside and it is a really big one is that is only has two maps. You read that right - two maps. There are so many characters, weapons, power ups, upgrades, etc... but it is hard to stay engaged to even unlock half of that content on two maps. How did this game release with only two maps? I really hope the dev is working on new ones and in time we will at least have 4-6 maps. I get that the game is super cheap so I can't ask for too much but comparing the content to maps it's obvious how lopsided it is and where the dev needs to put their attention into now.

IF you play it on the harder difficulties there are very little amount of games that make you feel such a badass - the feeling is kind of like Bulletstorm.

This is a super solid old school FPS to the max and even though I just beat the first level I know I am going to love every minute of it.

Really cool game that I am enjoying much more than I thought I would. I haven't unlocked enough to really comment on some aspects of the game like the tower defence stuff but it is a simple yet genius mix of resource management, city building, massing troops you don't control to defend your castle but composition matters so there is a lot of tactics involved here, spell casting, research, upgrading, meta progression, and more. I am definitely glad I went out on a limb and bought this for a pretty good deal as I now see that it is likely worth full price. I hope they keep adding content to and balancing the game as there seems like there is a lot they can do with it but for now it is a super solid game and completely worth your time and money if you like any few of the aspects of the game.

Definitely a good game worth even the full asking price so if you're interested just go for it. I may update the review when I have unlocked more content as I am pretty sure that after 7 hours I haven't even unlocked an eighth of the content.

I would consider this game as abandonware until we're given an indication otherwise.

I really wouldn't expect much as the developer isn't even responding to basic questions on their discord server. There hasn't been an update to the main branch in about a year now, and yes, I understand that there is a beta branch but what's the point of having a beta branch for an early access game which is already an alpha? All that is doing is showing the average user that the game has not been updated in almost a year - it makes no sense that you have to opt in to a beta branch of a game that's already in alpha to get some updates but even those have stopped.

Until there is some indication that the developer is willing to engage with their community and finish the game I would highly advise potential customers to pass this one up as there are tons of amazing tower defence games which are either being actively worked on or fully released and still being consistently updated.

All these games are worth your money way more than this one while they're either out of Early Access or in Early Access and being consistently updated.

As it stands this game is not worth anyone's time or money. I had high hopes for this game and regret spending money on it supporting a developer that, as it stands, doesn't seem to deserve that support. I'll update this review if anything changes but for now move along and don't waste your money on this half baked and probably abandoned game.

I didn't know that there was a first person shooter bullet heaven genre, but there is, and this is my first game of the type which I am enjoying very much.
