A flawed diamond of a game with a little different gameplay philosophy. It took a minute to adjust to the utter weakness of your initial character. Normally in these kind of RPGs you are a match for about 2-3 low level enemies. In Elex, you are easily killed by anything. You spend the first 5-10 hours running from enemies and doing story/side quests to get stronger to where you can fight back. That leads to the next strange mechanic, the combat. It feels like a combination of realtime souls-esque hit and dodge style with a queued-up hit combo mechanic. It makes the combat feel clunky, laggy and unresponsive initially. Once you start to watch enemy patterns and don't spam attacks it gets better.

On the other hand, the setting and story is amazing. A well thought out combination of sci-fi and fantasy, faith and tech. The morality system is not good vs evil, but human vs robotic, heart vs logic. The companions were well thought out and varied, well voiced, but not very long.

All in all, a good foundation for a franchise that I look forward to playing more of.

I enjoyed this 15 hour distraction. A simple game, with a simple premise. Kill zombies, help people, kill bigger zombies and win. The first hour or 2 are the hardest. Once you get hunger under control it all about staying ahead of the Attack/Defense/Hit Points curve and improving your weapons and armor.

I needed this art. This broke many of the standard game templates. The game takes advantage of the long treks to throw out a relaxing tune to help you take a moment and enjoy the surroundings before having to sneak your way through the next BT area. Not only are you trying to connect the country after a catastrophy, you are working with other players to improve those connections, in a sense. Alone you do not have the resource allotment to set up all the safe houses and ziplines, but building off someone else's building and expanding on it to help the player that may have your stuff imported was so cool to me. Setting up some good locations for bridges or a safehouse and stocking it with useful items is a great feeling, knowing that someone else may stumble through there like I did with their energy low and cargo degrading to find an oasis to recharge in. (I had a truck blow up in the middle of the mountains carrying a full load of cargo. And the feeling of 'dread' as all that cargo lays there uncovered, then noticing a safehouse a couple hundred feet away where I was lucky enough to fabricate some floating carriers was a lifesaver)

Get this game and take your time with it.

Good game. Take Fallout 4's power armor frames and smash zombies, robots and mind controlled humans with junk you pick up off the ground in this Souls-like. Not just a Souls clone, a gem in the genre. Between the Armor set bonus', perk modules to install and different weapon types; there are many different build playstyles to try out.

I absolutely loved the art style. Such a gorgeous game, even 6 years later. This is my first game of this type so I have nothing I am able to compare it to. I would love a follow up/sequel in this style.

Not may favorite game on the PC, but for me this is my perfect phone game. The UI is extremely intuitive and easy to use. I wish there was another game like this. But the whole marketplace seems filled with greedy gambling simulators designed to drain you of money. The monitization in this game is not a requirement, but you can spend if you wish. I don't find the lunchboxes to be all that helpful, maybe a couple in the early game to get some starting weapons and outfits.

I started my main vault in 2015 on an Iphone 4 and after 200 hours there isn't anything left for me to do. All dwellers are maxed level and stats, all geared with top tier legendary weapons and outfits. A variety of pets are available for various missions and objectives. Robots for all the automatic resource gathering. I have rearranged the layout twice to optimize rooms as strategy/focus changed (Population/Leveling/Training/Gathering/etc).

There does seem to be some issues with achievements on my transferred game save. I probably have to start a new save to try and complete some of the harder ones.

I held off on this game a long time for 2 reasons. 1) Arkane's character art style doesn't hook me. Personal taste, but it is a factor for me. 2) I had confused it with the previous game called Prey released a few years earlier, which made me think this game was going to be really dated.

About 8-10 hours in I regretted it. This was so well done that it brought back old memories of one of my all time favorite games as a teen, System Shock 2. The creepy corridors, the jump scares, the fragments of story scattered around for you to piece everything together. Even the gameplay was reminiscent. Simple weapons and a perk tree system based on a triad of meshing classes. Combat/Tech/Psi

To relate to other games I would say that this is a System Shock 2 reinvention with a Dishonored veneer.
