Fun traversal mechanics (especially when on water), a likeable cast of characters, and strong voice acting, undermined by repetitive objective and level design that start to wear thin even at Wavetale's short length; I'd still have played through to the end and given a warmer review if I hadn't encountered a series of increasingly frustrating platforming sequences later on, with finicky controls and unclear level design that makes it overly difficult to figure out your path to the switch you need to flip or another objective.
