I speak for the Steam Version only. I was never a Fan of getting locked to the Steam Version. You are locked out on Sales from other Seller because you can't apply the Keys to a Service account tied with the Steam Version of it, because you have the Steam Wallet for it. Myself i only have a second account i never use to keep it in my libary here, but my Main account exsists long before the Steam version got live. So i know the difference of it.

For the Game itself i can recommend it who loves MMO's and Final Fantasy. I play it now since Beta 2 of the A Realm Reborn Version. With the new Expansion Havensward the game got even better Story wise and they learned from the mistakes that happend during 3.0.

The Combatsystem got a awesome new rework on it, making only very few Jobs (Yes you classes are called jobs in this Game) at the current state of 2 weeks of thisa Patch live, very boring and unrewarding. But they are not unplayable and can be taken into Content aswell.

As for the Community. It is one of the best. Many other Players are mostly willing to help, if you need some help. But there will be some Who are still bad apples. They will blame People for doing to less Damage or failing on Mechanics. But over all the Comunity is much more mature.

The Visulas in this game are simple breathtaking. There are often times i enjoy the view and use the ingame Photo Mode to take some very nice screenshots. The Grafics are a good mix between WoW's catoonish grafics and the hyper-realtic MMO's like BDO. The only Con i hope will fix over time are the low resolution Armor Textures, especially on older pieces from ARR, since they had to support the PS3 up till Stormblood release (what dropped and is no longer an issue).

My Game times speaks for itself how much time i spent allready in this Game. There is more than just PvE Raiding stuff you can do.
As typical for an MMO'S you have Dungeons and raids, with Omega being the next Raid coming out in a few days as this review is written.
Then there are so called Hunts in the Open World. Those are your Rare Monster Spawns what reward you different things.
Then you can do also on the Open World Events what are called F.A.T.E.'s. Those are you Guild Wars 2 like Events where you do different things.
Then you can take part in Treasure Hunts. You can gather maps what you decipher and kill some mobs before looting the Chest. On the higher Tier Maps (usualy the one you need at least 4 People) you have a chance to spawn a Portal what leads to a Treasure Vault.
Then there is also the Deep Dungeon. It is a part of this Game where you get into a Randomized Dungeons and try to clear it. It have a entire own Leveling System bound to it and nothing of your Gear and so on will count in there only the 2 Stats you wil given inside. Right now we have the Palace of the Dead what can beated by Random Groups, put together with the automated Duty Finder, to Floor 100. If you wanna takle Floor 101-200 you have to gather some Friends and hope you never get a complete Group wipe at any of the floors.

Also there is PvP in this Game. It is not as popular like you GW2's and WoW's, but with the latest COMPLETE overhaul of the PvP System it certainly is going to a good direction of it. Where it was before a unbalanced mess of Gear stats and total ability bloat, you have now a unified System where you don't have to worry about gear anymore and the Abilities are cut down to some one them, making it more of a skilled gameplay instead of who presses the most buttons of the time. But there are still some flaws with some Jobs being totaly overtuned, what can be now much better worked on, since it is totaly indepentend to the PvE side of the Game.

Then at last but certainly not least there is the crafting and gathering.
Both have their own little system bound to it. With Crafting you mostly will try to get an higher Quality Item out of it, since it boosts the stats on it.
As Gatherer you have little controll if you get High Quality Items from it, you rather bound to certain Timers for rare Materials to gather.
Both got also with Havensward a new System implemented whatr is used to get massive amounts of XP during Leveling from 51-70 and on 60 and 70 for get new Recipes, Locations for new nodes, some gear options and crafting Materials.
For crfating you have certain amounts of Skills for each Crafter what will help you not only to finish the item you want to craft, but also to increase the Quality of it.
As gatherer you mostly try to use your skills foreither increasing the chance to gather it, get a higher procentige on the chance to get HQ items out or imcrease the amount you gather with one swing. Also you don't compete with other players for the same nodes, since everyonehave it's own spawn of it. That counts also for the rare timed Nodes. You will often see many people will gather the same node at the same time.

Over All you are in for a treat. The Main Story will guide you through the game and will give you a good story along the Way. Just keep in mind that the beginning is tuned for people who NEVER played a MMO before and you will feel it.

Awesome Music, genius Gamyplay and so much replayability thanks to challanging Content and several different Character what have all complete unique Playstyles.

Also Mod support (Steam Workshop) and very active Modding Comunity and a build in Map Editor, where you can build your own Death Stage
